BioSpace, along with its major supporters, Council for Entrepreneurial
Development (CED), North Carolina Bioscience Organization, North Carolina
Biotechnology Center, and North Carolina Department of Commerce, is proud to
develop the 2005 Bio NC Hotbed Campaign. The 3rd edition of the campaign
showcases life science companies including BD Technologies, Cardinal Health,
and Wyeth. Other companies participating in the campaign include technology
service providers, Constella Group and Fulcrum Pharma Developments PLC. The
Bio NC Hotbed map also highlights research institutes, non-profit
organizations and universities within North Carolina.
"North Carolina enjoys a strong pipeline of high-impact, high-growth life
science companies and organizations," said Monica Doss, president of the RTP-
based non-profit Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED). "The BioSpace
Hotbed map campaign showcases the rich pipeline and the potential of life
sciences in our state."
The campaign features a Bio NC Hotbed Map, created by BioSpace's
professional artist, which displays the corporate logos and facilities of
participating organizations. Copies of the map are available through BioSpace.
The map is further enhanced through the integration of many functional
components including a Bio NC Hotbed Homepage, on BioSpace's industry leading
Website, BioSpace.com.
"Bio NC has rapidly become one of BioSpace's most populated Hotbeds," said
Brian Vacanti, Division Manager of BioSpace. "We are impressed with the
growth of the life science sector and the sense of community that the state
has exhibited since its Hotbed's inception in 2001."
The original 1985 Biotech Bay(TM) Map for the San Francisco Bay Area hangs
on permanent display in the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of
American History.
