The connection to ARCOS will take place at the international cable landing
station on the South Florida coast near Miami. It provides connectivity from
FPL FiberNet's network to the NAP of the Americas and BellSouth MIX as well as
to more than 150 other facilities such as carrier hotels and central offices
housing telecommunications equipment in Florida.
"This agreement is significant because it provides reach into areas that
have high growth potential, but have been underserved," said Neil Flynn,
president of FPL FiberNet. "FPL FiberNet is pleased to be part of a project
that will provide connectivity solutions between major countries in the
Americas and to virtually every important interconnection point in Florida
including the NAP of the Americas and BellSouth MIX," Flynn said.
"This agreement allows New World Network to provide increased diversity
and choice to our customers by using multiple local providers to interconnect
to our fully-redundant and technologically advanced fiber-optic cable
network," said Matt Milstead, COO of New World Network. "Through FPL
FiberNet's metro-area network, one of the largest in the U.S., our customers
will have greater access to major carriers' networks nationwide."
