WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --- Strong American
Schools' ED in '08 campaign today unveiled a new viral video comparing
students in the United States to those of other industrialized countries.
The video demonstrates how the United States has fallen behind in
international assessment rankings, America's students are unprepared to
compete in a global workforce, and the nation's economy is suffering. "To
boost America's economy, the presidential candidates must focus on
strengthening K-12 education. Economists have long linked economy to
education, and it's time for our presidential candidates to get serious
about this and better address how they plan to reform America's schools,"
says Governor Roy Romer, Chairman of ED in '08.
The ED in '08 campaign believes there are three core elements to
addressing education reform: high standards, an effective teacher in every
classroom, and time and support for student learning.
"The ED in '08 campaign is excited to release this video advocating for
new national leadership to strengthen America's schools," says Governor Roy
Romer, Chairman of ED in '08. "We hope this video helps to raise awareness
about America's education crisis and urge the presidential candidates to
put forward a plan to improve America's schools because in every community
in America, too many children are leaving school without the skills to be
ready to succeed in college, careers and life."
