Applied Imaging Announces Management Changes

    SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Imaging Corp.
(Nasdaq: AICX) announced today that Mr. Carl Hull has been appointed Chief
Executive Officer and Director of the Company.  Mr. Hull assumes the CEO role
from Dr. Jack Goldstein, who has been CEO since 1997 and who will continue to
remain active in the Company as Chairman of the Board of Directors.  Mr.
Hull's transition to CEO at this time is part of Applied Imaging's established
management succession plan.
    Mr. Hull joined the Company in 1997 as Vice-President of Marketing and was
promoted to President and COO in September 1999.  Prior to joining Applied
Imaging in 1997, Mr. Hull was the Vice President of Marketing and Business
Development for Ventana Medical Systems, a manufacturer of automated pathology
testing systems.  Prior to that, Mr. Hull held a number of general management
and marketing management positions with Abbott Laboratories in its diagnostics
and international operations.  Mr. Hull holds a BA from The Johns Hopkins
University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

    The Company also announced the promotion of Mr. Daniel Bowman to the
position of Vice President -- Worldwide Sales and Marketing reporting to Mr.

us to develop consistent sales and marketing programs on a worldwide basis,
