PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Fred Meyer Stores, in a
partnership with The School, Home, and Office Products Association (SHOPA)
Foundation announced this week the distribution of grants to 28 teachers
within Alaska, Oregon, Idaho and Washington.
SHOPA, founded in 1991, is a non-profit trade association representing
approximately 2,000 manufacturers, manufacturer representatives, retailers,
wholesalers, distributors, commercial/contract stationers, and service
companies involved in the production, distribution, and sale of school
supplies and office products through mass market and commercial channels. The
SHOPA Foundation awards grants to teachers for innovative curriculum in their
program called Kids In Need Teacher Grants. This year alone, SHOPA awarded
119 teacher grants across the country totaling $90,547.57.
As a partner in the Kids In Need Teacher Grant program, Fred Meyer is the
distribution point for the grant applications at all of our store customer
service desks, which arrive in our stores in mid-June each year and are
available through September. In the states in which Fred Meyer operates,
SHOPA awarded 28 teachers grants totaling $21,405.28.
"The Teacher Grants assist teachers who often pay for supplies out of

students remember for lifetimes."
