j2 Global Expands Its Network to Hong Kong
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. and HONG KONG, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
j2 Global Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: JCOM), the provider of outsourced,
value-added messaging and communications services, today announced the
foundation for its thrust into China with the acquisition of Cyberbox, a Hong
Kong-based message management company.
The acquisition of Cyberbox gives j2 Global access to 40,000 local
telephone numbers in Hong Kong. These phone numbers will enable j2 Global to
offer its eFax(R) (Internet faxing) and jConnect(R) (unified messaging)
services to consumers, small businesses and corporations through local
telephone numbers in Hong Kong. j2 Global has long targeted Hong Kong, the
gateway to China, for expansion of its network. The acquisition of Cyberbox
will expedite that effort, while establishing a base from which the company
will evaluate its entry into the rapidly growing mainland Chinese market.
During a short transition period, Cyberbox customers will continue to use
the Cyberbox interface and platform. Following this period, customers will be
moved to the j2 Global platform, which will enable them to receive the added
features and functionality of the eFax and jConnect services, and also provide
them with access to j2 Global's worldwide network of 950+ local access points.
j2 Global will maintain the Cyberbox office in Hong Kong as its Corporate
sales headquarters for Asia.
