Harvard Business School Association of Northern California Honors Charles R. Schwab as 'Business Leader of the Year'

    SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Schwab founder,
chairman and CEO, Charles R. Schwab has been selected as the Harvard
Business School Association of Northern California's 2006 Business Leader
of the Year. He will become the annual award's 38th recipient. The annual
award recognizes an individual whose professional achievements and personal
attributes have provided leadership in his company and industry as well as
in civic, cultural, educational, and charitable activities.
    Proceeds from this year's Business Leader award dinner will benefit
HBSA Community Partners, a group that provides pro bono consulting and
management assistance to Bay Area non-profit organizations. Since 1986,
over 500 HBS alumni have volunteered to work on Community Partners projects
for more than 300 Bay Area nonprofit organizations on issues such as
strategic planning, marketing, financial management and board governance
issues. The club also offers scholarships for Bay Area nonprofit CEOs to
attend a one-week executive education course, Strategic Perspectives in
Nonprofit Management, held at HBS in July.
