reports opening 44 stores during the four-week period ended
January 31, 2004. With these additional stores, as of January 31, 2004, the
Company operated 5,139 stores.
The 44 newest store locations are in the following states: 6 in Texas; 4
each in Georgia and Illinois; 3 each in Missouri, New York and Ohio; 2 each in
Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee; 1 each in
Colorado, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New
Mexico, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Family Dollar Stores, Inc. operates stores in 43 states ranging as far
northwest as North Dakota, northeast to Maine, southeast to Florida, and
southwest to Arizona.
