Layton Graphics, Inc. Announces Release of MAP2PDF for ArcGIS

MARIETTA, Ga., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Layton Graphics, Inc. today shipped
its newest MAP2PDF product, MAP2PDF for ArcGIS. This revolutionary product
allows for the creation of intelligent Adobe PDF maps from within ArcGIS.
Users can export PDF maps that contain embedded projection coordinates,
graphical layers and feature class attributes. GeoPDF maps are easily
exported directly out of ArcMAP. Anybody with Adobe Acrobat(R) or free Adobe
Reader(R) software can then work with these PDF maps to get full GIS viewing
and querying functionality previously not available with more simple PDF image
maps. In addition, users with MAP2PDF for Acrobat can dynamically re-project
coordinates using various datum's and projections, interact with GPS devices
to view live positioning on GeoPDF maps, zoom to coordinates, measure
distances/angles in a variety of units of measure, and edit spatial data via
standard Adobe PDF forms technology.
"With Acrobat 7.0 and MAP2PDF for ArcGIS, users can now easily create,
control and exchange geo-registered PDF maps that contain both graphical
layers and embedded feature class attributes," said Patrick Aragon, Acrobat
product marketing manager, Intelligent Documents Business Unit, Adobe Systems
Incorporated.
MAP2PDF works by enabling the transformation of real world coordinates to
PDF coordinates. Once the map is geo-registered, database information about
objects in the map can be embedded as standard PDF comments that can be viewed
and queried using Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader. MAP2PDF for ArcGIS allows
for users to create dozens of graphical layers with associated custom
symbology. When the Acrobat or Adobe Reader hand tool is placed over this
symbology, associated feature class attributes are displayed as PDF comments.
"MAP2PDF for ArcGIS allows organizations to offer the general public full
GIS viewing and querying functionality in an easy to use, ubiquitous file
format," said Phil Lee, Executive VP of Layton Graphics. "End users prefer
receiving PDF maps and we give the GIS community the ability to easily embed
GIS intelligence back into the maps they currently distribute."
MAP2PDF for ArcGIS is ideal for publishing street, city and county maps,
atlas maps, outside plant utility maps, US Geological Survey quad sheets and
navigation charts to geo-registered PDF files. In addition, any map
distributed to the Web can be viewed as a PDF document. Web viewing using
Adobe Acrobat's Browser Based Review functionality allows for geospatial
collaboration using standard web technology, providing users with simultaneous
review and comment capabilities on the document.
MAP2PDF supports layering of raster and vector data, making it ideal for
simultaneous viewing of vector maps overlayed on aerial raster images.
Additionally, Layton Graphics offers software and services for automating
bookmarking and hyperlinking of gridded mapping data.
