"We have been forced to absorb inflation in virtually all European
production cost components, including raw materials, energy and
transportation. These cost increases in recent months have come on top of a
sustained period of depressed pricing. While we understand the difficulty that
price increases pose for our customers, we have not been able to fully offset
inflationary costs with our continuing aggressive productivity improvement,"
said Harrell.
Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. is owned by Sonoco (NYSE: SON) and Ahlstrom
Corporation and operates 39 core and tube plants and six paper mills
throughout Europe.
