MELROSE PARK, Ill., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Catering to the changing tastes
of its customers, Jewel-Osco is hosting free seafood cooking classes
Feb. 11, for Chicagoland and Milwaukee customers.
Jewel-Osco Pier 14 Seafood handlers at 126 stores (please see list of
locations below) will prepare Chilean sea bass, salmon, and shrimp, all of
which are low in fat, abundant in nutritional value, and delicious.
"Not only do our seafood experts share their culinary experience with our
customers, they also answer customers' questions on seafood preparation," said
Mike Spinozzi, Vice President of Fresh Food Merchandising. "The classes are
always a lot of fun and people really enjoy hearing new menu ideas."
In addition, seafood preparation using microwave ovens, bag cooking, and
garnishing tips will be discussed during the 90-minute classes.
There is no charge to attend the class, but those planning to participate
are encouraged to register in person or by telephone at their nearest
Jewel-Osco location.
Jewel-Osco cooking classes in 1998 drew more than 3,500 eager
participants. As part of Jewel-Osco's continuing customer commitment, the
classes are designed to educate consumers on how to prepare seafood items,
broaden their culinary repertoire, and answer questions concerning seafood
preparation.
In addition to learning innovative seafood recipes and hints on
preparation, participants will be eligible for raffle prizes and everyone will
receive money-saving seafood coupons. Complimentary refreshments will also be
served.
Jewel-Osco operates 189 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
