Optical Storage Technology Association to Announce MPV Specification Developments with Global Industry Leaders HP, Konica Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, And Samsung on Friday, February 13 At 2004 PMA Convention and Trade Show

WHO: The Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA)

WHAT: On Friday, February 13, 2004, OSTA will jointly announce new
implementations of its MPV(TM) (MusicPhotoVideo) Specification in
conjunction with worldwide industry-leading digital camera
manufacturers and imaging software companies HP, Nikon, Olympus,
Konica Minolta, Samsung, and Software Architects. MPV is used to
improve compatibility between and playback of digital media
content by PCs and consumer electronics (CE) devices. The
announcement will be made at the 2004 Photo Marketing Association
(PMA) Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

New initiatives to extend the MPV specification to provide
additional capabilities for digital cameras, digital imaging and
photo archiving will also be presented, and the benefits of the
MPV, including faster, easier playback of digital content through
use of digital photo playlists will be demonstrated using
             MPV-enabled products from industry leaders.

    WHEN: OSTA MPV Press Conference
             Friday, February 13, 2004
             11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PST

    WHERE: Las Vegas Convention Center
South Hall, S3, Meeting Room #226
             3150 Paradise Road
             Las Vegas, NV 89109
             (702) 892-0711

ABOUT: The MPV specification is designed to facilitate the interchange
of file-based digital media with DVD video players and recorders
and other consumer electronics (CE) playback devices. MPV, which
facilitates more efficient management of digital photo, music and
video content, works with any file system or operating system by
adding an XML metadata file recognized by the playback device.
Originally designed for CDs and DVDs, MPV technology works well
in other storage solutions, such as flash memory cards and hard
disk drives, as well as networked consumer digital home
             environments.

OSTA was incorporated as an international trade association in
1992 to promote the use of recordable optical technologies and
products. For additional information about OSTA and MPV, please
visit the organization's Web site at http://www.osta.org.
