                 Products for Small- and Medium-Businesses

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NETGEAR, Inc.
(Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded
networking products, today announced the results of a feature and
performance evaluation of the ProSafe SSL VPN Concentrator 25 (SSL312)
conducted by The Tolly Group in which the SSL312 was awarded the
"Up-To-Spec" certification and concluded that the SSL312 provides an easy,
secure, cost-effective clientless remote access solution for SMB users. The
ProSafe SSL VPN Concentrator 25 (SSL312) is being shown live by NETGEAR at
the RSA Security Conference from February 5-8 in Booth 604 at the Moscone
Center, San Francisco.
The test results, which are summarized in a report that is available
for download at http://www.tolly.com/DocDetail.aspx?DocNumber=206170,
reported that the SSL312 provided ample throughput performance using
hardware-based encryption, browser-based access, seamless integration with
existing networks, and key SSL VPN feature support at a price that is
affordable to SMB buyers.
According to the report, Tolly Group engineers verified that the SSL312
provides clientless remote access to corporate data, enabling browser based
access to corporate resources using Web browsers including Microsoft
Internet Explorer and Apple Safari without requiring a VPN client. The
report also found that due to its hardware-based encryption module, the
SSL312 delivered throughput of 6.7 Mbps and provided very low latency
enabling toll-quality voice over Internet (VoIP) phone calls. Confirming
that the SSL312 supports up to 25 simultaneous users, Tolly Group engineers
demonstrated the effectiveness of the SSL VPN in SMB network environments
by validating its seamless integration, access control policy and security
features.
"With the advent of VoIP, video and other real-time applications, small
and mid-sized businesses needs security devices that can support these
latency-sensitive applications and deliver high throughput," said Kevin
Tolly, president/CEO and founder of The Tolly Group. "Testing demonstrates
that NETGEAR's ProSafe SSL VPN Concentrator 25 (SSL312) has the ability to
provide clientless remote access to converged applications for SMB users."
"The results of The Tolly Group report validate the SSL312 as a
powerful, cost-effective remote access solution for small- and medium-sized
businesses," explained Vivek Chugh, product line manager at NETGEAR. "The
extensive performance and feature testing conducted by Tolly Group
engineers provided validation to the reason behind the growing popularity
of NETGEAR SSL312 worldwide."
