High Tower Incorporates Additional Features Into SEM Appliance Family, Enabling Greater Network Protection

Master console, increased reporting capabilities enable companies to better
analyze network device data, fend off attacks, unauthorized access to data

RSA CONFERENCE, SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- High Tower
(http://www.high-tower.com), a leading provider of advanced security event
management solutions, today introduced a new generation of protection for
companies seeking to defend their networks against hackers and other
unauthorized intrusions. The company announced the latest version of its
award-winning family of SEM appliances that help security analysts identify
critical threats in real-time and reduce the risk associated with
unauthorized access to network resources and data.
The announcement was made today at the RSA Security conference in San
Francisco, where High Tower is exhibiting its 3200 family of SEM security
appliances.
"It's become increasingly important for us to implement rules and
procedures that target specific needs, without impacting the overall
network," said Peter Rios, Management Information Systems Network Manager
at Kingston Technology Company. "The new features High Tower has developed
as part of its SEM appliance system allow us to further improve the
efficiency of our security team by getting the right information about
critical events to the right people immediately, enabling them to quickly
pinpoint and act on potential threats to the network."
The improvements in version 3.3 of High Tower's software give analysts
more powerful tools than ever before, including the ability to centrally
monitor incoming logged information from multiple SEM appliances on one
screen, enabling them to gain an enterprise-wide view and gauge the state
of their security posture. The improved software also:
     * Enables user to schedule any report to be run at pre-scheduled
          intervals, even when the user is not logged in;
     * Automatically notifies users (and groups of users) about incidents
based on criteria such as time, assets involved, rules involved, and
          incident severity; and
     * Allows the import and export of customized lists for use in
          generating or suppressing incidents.
"As networks become more complicated and handle more traffic, giving
companies the ability to monitor them and defend against attacks becomes
more critical than ever," said Gene Schultz, High Tower's Chief Technology
Officer. "The improvements we are announcing today provide analysts with
more tools than ever before to quickly detect and determine the potential
severity of threats against the network. By doing so, they can act in
virtual real-time to defend their network and deflect or mitigate any
damage."
The software upgrade confirms High Tower's continuing efforts to
provide its enterprise-level customers with a world-class solution to
address constantly evolving information security challenges. Its efforts
have been consistently recognized; SC Magazine recently awarded High
Tower's SEM 3210 appliance with a "Best of 2006" citation and five-star
review. In addition, High Tower's exclusive analysis engine, MetaRules(TM),
has been consistently upgraded to include support for a full range of
security devices from recognized industry leaders such as McAfee,
WatchGuard, 3Com and more. In many cases, that support was accomplished
within days through High Tower's Device Support Service (DSS), provided to
the company's customers at no additional charge.
High Tower's 3200 family of SEM appliances are designed to provide
analysis and protection capabilities for a full range of companies. With
the ability to process up to 20,000 correlated events per second (CEPS),
and store two terabytes' worth of logs for immediate analysis, High Tower's
SEM appliances are increasingly recognized for their combination of
performance and value, helping companies manage large volumes of network
and security data and meet the stringent security requirements of
regulations and standards initiatives such as Sarbanes-Oxley,
Gramm-Leach-Bliley, HIPAA, PCI, and ISO 17799.
