SSH Founder Tatu Ylonen to Address Shortcomings of Perimeter Security at the 2006 RSA Conference

Secure Shell Creator to Outline Benefits of an End-to-End Communications
                              Security Solution

HELSINKI, Finland and PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 6
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SSH Communications Security (HEX: SSH1V), a
world-leading provider of enterprise security solutions and end-to-end
communications security, and the original developer of the Secure Shell
protocol, today announced that Tatu Ylonen, its founder and the inventor of
Secure Shell, will present at this year's RSA(R) Conference. Addressing the
problems associated with sole reliance on perimeter security, the presentation
will take place Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 3:25 p.m. at the RSA Conference in San
Jose, Calif.
According to Gartner, 70 percent of unauthorized access to information
systems is committed by employees, and more than 95 percent of these internal
security breaches result in significant financial losses. For these reasons,
traditional perimeter security supplied by systems such as firewalls and
anti-virus software are no longer sufficient for protecting the enterprise.
End-to-end communications security is an advanced solution that overcomes
the limitations of perimeter-based enterprise security approaches by
protecting data communications from start to finish. Operating between the
applications themselves and the IT infrastructure, these systems also enable
central management of security software and policies across the enterprise.
In his presentation, Ylonen will address the inherent limitations of existing
enterprise security approaches in light of new threats and the expanding
regulatory environment, and show how end-to-end security and central
manageability can deliver an order of magnitude improvement in security
against both internal and external risks.
In 1995, Tatu Ylonen developed the Secure Shell protocol, the de facto
standard for secure remote system administration and file transfer used by
millions worldwide, and founded SSH Communications Security. He established
and led several companies prior to SSH Communications Security, including
Applied Computing Research (ACR) Ltd. in 1994 and New Generation Software
(NGS) Ltd. in 1988. Ylonen holds a Master of Science degree in Technology
from Helsinki University of Technology. He is a member of ICSA (International
Computer Security Association), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and is very active
within IETF. He has authored several articles in national and international
publications.
