NEW YORK, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's today withdrew its
double-'B'-minus foreign currency and double-'B'-plus local currency credit
ratings on City of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as per the municipality's request.
At present, none of the city's financial debt is rated. The ratings were first
assigned in April 1997.
