ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Energy
Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD Ovonics) (Nasdaq: ENER) announced today that
its Board of Directors has established a committee comprised of all
non-management directors for the purpose of developing and implementing an
orderly succession plan for the Company's management team, including the
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Robert C. Stempel, the President and
Chief Scientist and Technologist, Stanford R. Ovshinsky, Executive Vice
President and Chief Operating Officer, James R. Metzger, and other senior
officers and managers. The committee has retained the executive search firm
of Heidrick & Struggles who is consulting on this process. The Board also
designated Stephen Rabinowitz to serve as Lead Director and to chair the
committee.
Addressing the establishment of the committee, Mr. Stempel said, "As
ECD Ovonics moves from a highly successful project development company to a
more commercially-oriented, operations-focused manufacturing environment,
our continuing growth and expansion requires additional and new management
