Reliv Rolls Out CardioSentials(R), a Dietary Supplement Shown to Be
Safe and Effective
CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A conference in
Phoenix, Arizona, was the setting for Reliv International, Inc.
(Nasdaq: RELV), an international manufacturer and network marketer of
nutritional supplements and food products, to introduce Reliv
CardioSentials(R), a new dietary supplement shown to be safe and effective
through an independent study.
Reliv CardioSentials(R) contains 1500 mg of phytosterols per serving.
Foods containing at least 400 mg of phytosterols taken twice a day (800 mg
total), as part of a diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol, may reduce
the risk of heart disease.
Reliv CardioSentials was developed by Reliv scientists to help address
some of the multiple factors causing the development of heart disease,
including the complex balances of "good" and "bad" cholesterol levels, as well
as blood glucose levels and oxidative stress.

The trial was conducted by Joe Vinson, Ph.D., a Professor of Chemistry at
the University of Scranton. The 16-week randomized double-blind, placebo-
controlled crossover study (the gold standard of clinical testing) aimed to
determine the safety and effectiveness of Reliv CardioSentials(R) in reducing
those key risk factors.
The summary report on the clinical trial states that the overall effect of
the program for participants in the study was a significant reduction in the
10-year risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
Specifically, the study concluded that Reliv CardioSentials(R)
significantly decreased total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol and
triglycerides in test subjects with high cholesterol. In addition, the product
increased HDL (good) cholesterol and reduced blood glucose levels.
The study tested two groups -- individuals taking statin (cholesterol-
lowering) medications and individuals not taking statins. Both groups
experienced significant antioxidant benefits from Reliv CardioSentials. Other
findings concluded the following results:
For those taking statin medications, the product caused no adverse
interaction with statin medication and resulted in improvements in their
average risk factor because of a decrease in LDL (bad cholesterol).
For those not taking statins, a daily serving of Reliv CardioSentials(R)
significantly reduced total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol, triglycerides
and glucose, and raised HDL (good) cholesterol. It significantly decreased
the overall risk factor for heart disease.
