RSA BSAFE Encryption Solutions Help Canon Customers Protect Sensitive Business
Information
BEDFORD, Mass., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RSA Security Inc.
(Nasdaq: RSAS) today announced that Canon Inc. selected RSA BSAFE(R) Crypto-C
encryption software to integrate security functions into the imageRUNNER(R)
digital multifunction copier series. Specifically, Canon leveraged RSA BSAFE
technology within the imageRUNNER series to provide functionality that
protects confidential information when it is scanned, printed or faxed. Canon
joins a growing roster of leading worldwide manufacturers -- including
Nintendo Co., Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. and Sony Computer Entertainment -- that
rely on RSA BSAFE technology to help secure products such as portable game
consoles, digital televisions, and business automation equipment.
Since multifunction printers and copiers are shared by numerous people,
Canon customers understand that it is critical to take appropriate security
measures in order to prevent printed or scanned materials from being
transferred from one person to another. Canon chose RSA Security's encryption
technology because the solutions are effective, reliable and help the company
deliver the highest quality to its customers.
RSA BSAFE technology helps enable organizations to reduce risk related to
data security by protecting a variety of functions within the Canon
imageRUNNER series:
* Secure sockets layer (SSL) technology, which provides authentication and
secure communication between user desktops, servers, and other network
devices and Canon printers
* imageRUNNER PDF Direct Print feature, which provides the ability to
print PDF and TIFF files without going through a printer driver
* imageRUNNER Secure Send feature, which automatically creates encrypted
PDF files that cannot be accessed by unauthorized users
"Canon's decision to leverage RSA BSAFE technology within its imageRUNNER
product line further validates our ability to deliver encryption solutions
that are both highly secure and flexible," said Rick Welch, vice president,
Developer Division at RSA Security. "As companies worldwide expand their
efforts to ensure that the products they deliver to market are secure, we look
forward to continued partnerships with technology leaders such as Canon."
