Construction Writers Association Calls for Journalism Award and Photography Award Entries

    BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Construction Writers
Association (CWA) announces that entries must be postmarked by Friday,
March 16, 2007, for the annual CWA Journalism Awards and CWA Photography
Awards programs. Winners will be recognized at the association's annual
meeting May 2-4 in Washington, D.C.
    The association annually presents five CWA Journalism Awards:
    * The T. Randolph Russell Award for newsletters. Entries may be a
single newsletter or a series of related issues covering a single topic.
    * The Kneeland "Ned" Godfrey Award for a body of work. The author is
recognized for superior journalistic and writing skills over the course of
a year.
    * The Robert F. Boger Award for a single article or a series of
subject- related articles in one of three categories.
    1. Feature articles on current subjects of general significance to the
construction industry and, in particular, to the publication's readers.
    2. Special reports that demonstrate the writer or editor's analytical
and interpretive skills on a subject of particular interest to the
publication's readers.
    3. Editorials written by a member of the publication's staff. The
pieces will reflect the editorial policy of the publication and its role in
the construction industry.
    Original publication tear-sheets will be mailed to the awards committee
for judging. The committee also requests that pdfs of the entry be emailed
to the awards chair, Rolf Fuessler of Fuessler Group, Boston, MA.
    The CWA Gordon Wright Photography Awards honor photographers who have
created photos that are newsworthy, illustrative, informative and/or
aesthetically pleasing. Awards are made for a single feature photograph and
for a series of related photographs relevant to the construction industry.
Original publication tear-sheets will be mailed to the awards committee for
judging. The committee also requests that pdfs of the entry be emailed to
the awards chair, Karen Courtney of BSA LifeStructures of Indianapolis, IN.
    CWA's journalism and photography awards are awarded to individuals, not
to the publications in which their work appears. CWA requires an entry fee
of $75 for the first entry and $25 for each additional entry in each
contest. Only CWA members in good standing at the time of entry are
eligible; however, entrants may join the association at the time they send
their entry. The individual membership fee is $100.
