Damage Occurs While Plant is Not Operating
TROY, Mich., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Champion Enterprises,
Inc. (NYSE: CHB), a leader in factory-built construction, today announced
that its manufacturing facility in Henry, Tenn. was destroyed by fire
during the early hours of February 8, 2008. There were no injuries
reported. The Henry facility had been in business since 1968 with
distribution throughout the southeastern United States.
While the total sales and net earnings of the Henry facility are not
material to Champion's overall results, and the facility is fully insured,
the loss is nonetheless significant for the company. "We have a terrific
team of employees in Henry and are grateful that no one was hurt. We expect
to very quickly evaluate our options both with respect to serving our
customers and taking care of our employees," stated William Griffiths,
chairman, president and chief executive officer of Champion Enterprises,
Inc. "In the immediate aftermath, we will work to quickly transition the
Henry plant customers to other Champion facilities, and will continue to
provide the high level of service our Henry team has always taken pride
in."
