HOUSTON, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Eagle USA Airfreight, Inc. (Nasdaq: EUSA),
today announced the expansion of its Internet capabilities for its customers
through the introduction of an extranet client/server application software
program named E@GLE ADVISOR.
Through E@GLE ADVISOR, customers can access Eagle's web site to track and
trace shipment information without the need for separate PC browser software.
Shipment status, including proof of delivery information, is automatically
"pushed" to the customers' desktop PC whenever a new shipment is entered or
there is a status change to any of the customers' shipments. E@GLE ADVISOR
provides the status on all of the customers' shipments, thereby removing the
burden from the customer of entering and viewing shipments on an individual
basis. The software contains a search engine to quickly access shipment
details and has the ability to generate customized reports right from the
customer's desktop PC.
"By simply selecting a date range, the customer can search or print the
activity on all of their shipments and can customize the presentation of this
data for their own internal uses," explained Robert Towle, Director of MIS for
Eagle USA. "This software is designed to enhance the efficiency of our
customers' operations, as well as our own."
Daniel Di Gregorio, Senior Vice President of MIS for Eagle USA, noted that
further expansion of the technology is forthcoming. "A similar application
for our international terminals and agents is currently in the final testing
phase. The use of the Internet as a Virtual Private Network is a key
component of our overall technology strategy."
Slated for implementation in the second quarter of calendar 1999 is the
addition of "Proof of Delivery Digital Signature Images" which will be
available through Eagle's web site. The technology will enhance the shipment
information customers receive through E@GLE ADVISOR.
"As a result of the efforts of Eagle's own MIS team, our goal of utilizing
the most advanced technology via the Internet in all areas of our operations
is quickly becoming a reality," said John McVaney, Executive Vice President of
Eagle USA. "With the anticipated addition of Proof of Delivery Images on our
web site and real time shipment status updates, our customers have information
literally at their finger tips when they need it. This is just another
example of Eagle's commitment to streamlining operations, reducing multiple
functions, reducing costs through technology and meeting and exceeding our
customers' increasingly sophisticated demands and expectations."
Eagle USA Airfreight's dedication to providing superior flexibility and
fewer shipping restrictions on a price competitive basis has made it a leading
