Nationwide Survey Reveals More Than 83 Percent of Singles Want to Give Cupid His Pink Slip

TRUE(R) Offers Online Daters Key Advice to Find Romance While Keeping Safety
                                   in Mind

    DALLAS, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- In a surprising move, today's singles
refuse to take their chances with Cupid for Valentine's Day, opting instead to
take matters into their own hands. This year, millions of singles will turn to
online dating to find a Valentine. In fact, according to a recent nationwide
survey of singles conducted by TRUE, the leading scientifically based online
relationship service, more than 83 percent of those surveyed said they will
likely use an online dating service to set up a date for Valentine's Day.
Additionally, over 42 percent of those surveyed by TRUE said they would
consider cyberdating on Valentine's Day, utilizing technology like virtual
conference and webcams.
As Valentine's Day approaches, TRUE encourages singles to refuse to take
chances with their safety and security. TRUE wants singletons to keep safety
in mind so they don't end up looking for love in all the wrong places.
"Our research shows that more and more single men and women are turning to
online services in their search for a compatible mate, especially around
holidays like Valentine's Day," stated Herb Vest, founder and CEO of TRUE.
"For us, increasing the safety and security of our members has and always will
be our most important priority. We actively seek to further protect our
members by conducting criminal background and marital screenings, so singles
can enjoy the online dating experience in a safer, more secure environment."
TRUE recommends the following steps for the online dating community to
help make this holiday a safer and happier one:

     * Do not give out your address, place of employment or phone number
until you have met in person and feel comfortable about your date.
     * Use email first to establish contact and receive a reply.
     * Use chat rooms for your first date and get a good feeling about one
        another before meeting in person.
     * Request a picture, which will serve as a means of identification.
     * When you meet, avoid suggestive language and jokes. Convey your wit
        about topics that really matter.
     * Make your first meeting at a well-lit public place, like a coffee
shop. Lunch is also a great venue. At the end of your first meeting,
if you feel good about the other person, then you can decide if you
want to reveal more personal information and exchange phone numbers.
     * When going out on a date, always tell someone the name and phone
number of your date, your cell number, where you're going and your
        estimated time of return.
     * If possible, carry a cell phone, coins for a pay phone and taxi money.
