China's XinHua News Agency Deploys National News Network Using VideoTele.com's M2 Video Edge Devices

       VideoTele.com Transport Equipment Connects China's 31 Provinces
                       to Beijing's Central News Agency

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. and BEIJING, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
VideoTele.com, Inc(R)., a division of Tut Systems, Inc.(R) (Nasdaq: TUTS),
today announced that the XinHua News Agency has deployed more than 30 of its
M2 video edge devices to create a nationwide digital video delivery network.
VideoTele.com (VTc)'s M2s enable the delivery of real-time video from
Beijing's central news agency to people living throughout the 4 million square
miles that make up China.
Operating 24 hours per day and seven days per week, the M2 video edge
devices encode and transmit digital video for stable, high quality two-way
communications between each province and the Beijing central office. As the
first company to deliver broadcast-quality video over fiber optic network,
VTc's M2 Series was selected by XinHua for its high quality resolution,
reliability and cost-effectiveness.
To deliver XinHua's new expansive multimedia network, VideoTele.com
partnered with Delta Hi-Tech Co., Ltd and China Telecom System Integration
Co., Ltd. The video transmission system developed by the three partners
leverages the power of the M2's MPEG-2 encoding and decoding technology to
compress, deliver and receive high-quality digital video and audio content.
XinHua's network combines video conferencing, video transmission, IP and
telephone applications and uses ATM connections to deliver multiple
applications over a single network infrastructure thereby reducing capital and
operating costs.
"XinHua News is the premier news organization in all of China, requiring a
bullet-proof system that guarantees the integrity of its transmission," said
SiCheng Tan, China Country Manager for VideoTele.com. "The M2 delivers on
these requirements which makes our solution so successful. We are very pleased
to have this opportunity to enable this network for XinHua News."
