Government IT Initiatives to Fund Homeland Defense,
Cybersecurity and Enterprise Architecture
WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Even amid austere federal government
spending in areas other than technology, the Bush Administration has proposed
significant increases over last year's requested $52.7B in federal IT
spending. This year, the Administration has requested a total of $59.1B for
IT spending, a figure that represents a $6.4B or 12% increase over last year's
proposed budget. With the Administration's nod to the core value of IT
initiatives to governmental security and infrastructure, FOSE 2003, April 8-10
in the new Washington, D.C. Convention Center, has garnered further momentum
as the forum where government professionals gather with industry-leaders to
discuss, streamline and solve our government's IT challenges.
"FOSE 2003 is well positioned to promote many of the Administration's key
initiatives," said Bill Howell, Executive Vice President of PostNewsweek Tech
Media and General Manager of FOSE. "This year, our strength comes from our
forward-focus on uniting the world's leading solution providers with the key
areas outlined by the proposed budget: particularly, homeland defense,
cybersecurity, e-services to citizens and enterprise architecture.
"Again, FOSE 2003 will provide all levels of government -- local, state
and federal -- with the broadest coverage of new and innovative technologies.
Even in a time of careful budgeting for both industry and government, we have
been encouraged by the willingness of our attendees and exhibitors to
recognize and to respond to the clear call from our Administration to
strengthen our nation's defense, security and technology infrastructure."
FOSE, the largest and longest-running technology tradeshow for government
professionals, will be the first tradeshow in the new Convention Center in
Washington, D.C., and will take advantage of the new space by showcasing a
newly developed Homeland Security Center. The Homeland Security Center,
sponsored by Lockheed Martin, will present a mix of homeland security
solutions presently employed by various local, state and governmental
agencies.
This year, FOSE will again present E-Town, a showcase of 25 of the leading
citizen-centered initiatives from local, state, federal and international
agencies. E-Town, sponsored by Accenture, will also be the home for the
annual Showcase of Excellence winners, a group of best-practice and government
technology success stories awarded by The Federal Executive Leadership
Councils.
FOSE 2003 will take place at the new Washington D.C. Convention Center on
Tuesday, April 8 through Thursday, April 10, 2003. The trade show and
education program are free to government professionals. For more information
