Industry Experts Grady Booch, Robert X. Cringely, Ivar Jacobson, Steve

in anticipation for the 17th annual Software Development Conference & Expo
West (SD West 2004), CMP Media's SD Events Group today announced the names of
the exceptional industry experts chosen to keynote at the upcoming event, SD
West 2004 is slated for March 15 - 19th, in Santa Clara, CA.
This year's dynamic keynote lineup includes:
-- Grady Booch, IBM Fellow and one of the original developers of the
Unified Modeling Language. Mr. Booch will discuss why software
development is a core business process. His keynote is scheduled for
Thursday, March 18 at 12:30pm.
-- Robert X. Cringely, the best-selling author, columnist, futurist and
PBS personality will address the politics of technical standards. His
keynote will cover the development of several important technical
standards and the real stories of the politics that lie beneath it all.
Mr. Cringely will deliver his keynote address on Thursday, March 18 at
5:30pm.
-- Ivar Jacobson is the Founder of Jaczone and known as a father of
components, the Unified Modeling Language and the Rational Unified
Process. Mr. Jacobson will talk about modeling solutions including use
cases and aspects and how they can work together. His keynote is
scheduled for March 17 at 5:30pm.
-- Steve McConnell is the Chief Software Engineer of Construx Software and
an industry renowned author. Mr. McConnell will explore the software
issues of yesterday and today and will share a few lasting truths about
software development. Mr. McConnell will deliver his keynote address on
March 15 at 12:15pm.
-- Allan Vermeulen, CTO and VP of Amazon.com, will discuss how companies
and individuals can create the environment necessary for developers to
build the next generation of software. Mr. Vermeulen's keynote is
scheduled for March 16 at 12:15pm.
Along with these visionary keynote addresses, SD West 2004 attendees can
