Infrastructure Service Offers New Level of Supply Chain Visibility with On-
Demand Insight into Partners and Suppliers; Tilion On Stage at DEMO 2001
PHOENIX, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Tilion announced today at DEMO 2001 its
Internet-based service for supply chain visibility and its Premier Program.
Tilion also announced that the leading provider of E-Business Enablement and
Infrastructure Management software and solutions, Peregrine Systems, has
selected Tilion's new analytics offering for its Get2Connect.net(SM) (G2C)
customers. Tilion's service is based on an XML platform that provides a
breakthrough in supply chain performance management by giving companies a
unified view of their suppliers' activities and operations, on demand.
Tilion is initially providing its service to an exclusive group of
enterprises and private transaction networks through its Premier Program.
Participants are selected based on stringent criteria, including mission-
critical need, supply chain complexity, and business-to-business (B2B)
technology innovation. Tilion will roll out additional components of its
supply chain visibility service throughout 2001.
"Companies are investing in many ways to realize the full potential of the
Internet and the e-business infrastructures they've developed over the past
decade," said Gerry Diamond, senior vice president of Business Development at
Peregrine Systems E-Markets Group. "Tilion is poised to capitalize on this
trend with a value-added service that brings businesses closer to realizing
this potential. We believe their analytic service will help our customers
gain greater understanding and visibility into their supply chain and the
value of their e-trading relationships. We are excited about providing
Tilion's capabilities to our Get2Connect.net customers."
Tilion is changing the way companies manage their B2B operations and
collaborate with trading partners by creating an on-demand, unified view of
supply chain transactions. Tilion's service aggregates B2B transactions and
other supply chain data from its point of origin, analyzes it and provides on
demand analytics to end-users through a Web browser. This provides business
executives with unprecedented insight into the state of their operations,
allowing them to make more informed business decisions and improvements to
business processes without installing expensive enterprise or supply chain
management software.
"Today's vision for Internet commerce still has one major obstacle: a
glaring inability to view information between vendors," said Christopher
Stone, president, CEO and founder of Tilion. "Businesses are losing millions
of dollars because they don't get detailed information when it's needed most.
With Tilion, this dynamic changes. For example, once you transmit a purchase
order to your vendor, you have no visibility into the status of that order.
But what happens if the goods don't arrive on-time? How do you know who is
responsible? Maybe your purchase order is stuck at your supplier, or the
goods are in the warehouse of a third-party logistics provider. Tilion tells
you exactly what is happening with every supply chain process so that you
identify and eliminate bottlenecks before they become problems."
Businesses can use the Tilion service to manage supplier and channel
performance and to analyze the status of various supply chain processes, such
as purchasing, shipping, inventory management, and execution against
forecasts. Insight into any or all of these areas means the ability to
maximize resources, anticipate problems, evaluate partners and, ultimately,
improve a company's net profit. For suppliers, the Tilion service provides a
means to prove their value to their customers and partners, compete on factors
other than price, and make adjustments to improve customer service.
"In the past year, there has been a great deal of hype about emerging B2B
technologies. For the most part, though, the touted benefits have largely gone
unrealized," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of DEMO 2001. "We selected
Tilion to participate in DEMO because its supply chain visibility service
finally delivers on the promise of giving businesses a capability they've long
coveted but, to date, have been unable to realize. Tilion has the potential to
fundamentally change the way businesses manage their supply chains."
How it Works
Tilion collects XML-based transaction data from its point of origin with
the Tilion Analytics Collector. This data is then forwarded via the Internet
to the Tilion Intelligence Center, a distributed service that receives and
enriches the data and forwards subsets to the Tilion Online Workspace.
Customers can then view reports via TOW applications accessed with a Web
browser. The Tilion service uses PKI and 128-bit SSL to ensure trusted,
secure transaction processing for its customers.
