HARTSVILLE, S.C., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Sonoco (NYSE: SON)
will increase prices for its paper-based tubes and cores and related
specialty products by 8 percent in the United States and Canada effective
with shipments on or after March 1, 2007, it was announced today by John
Colyer, division vice president and general manager, Industrial Products --
North America.

"This increase is necessary to counter the effect of recent price
increases by producers of uncoated, recycled paperboard. We anticipate
additional cost pressures and will continue to monitor them closely," said
Colyer.
