SEMI to Offer Intelligence on Wafer Fabs

Wafer Fab Database Products Enhance Existing Set of Market Statistics
                                 Offerings

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMI today announced that it
has acquired several wafer fab database products from Strategic Marketing
Associates (SMA). Products include FabFutures, Fab Construction Monitor,
Fab Equipment Monitor (formerly FabExpenditures), FabFutures LE (formerly
FabTimeline) and Fab Capacity Report. SEMI and SMA will maintain a
strategic partnership to ensure a high level of quality fab information for
the industry. Strategic Marketing Associates retains ownership of World Fab
Watch, its fab database, as well as other products. World Fab Watch is
marketed jointly by SEMI and SMA.
Analyst Chris Dieseldorff, formerly of SMA, has joined SEMI as senior
analyst and director of market research. Dieseldorff will leverage SEMI's
global contacts to continue building the database.
The fab databases contain a comprehensive and highly dynamic set of
information, which is updated quarterly, on the latest global fab trends.
It is a resource that multiplies the market research capabilities of its
subscribers, allowing them to more effectively target key customers and
accurately analyze product trends with relative ease.
"We are very excited to strengthen the existing SEMI market research
portfolio by adding FabFutures, Fab Capacity Report and the other
databases," said Stanley T. Myers, president and CEO of SEMI. "SEMI has
tremendous worldwide resources which will effectively support and enhance
the integrity and value of these reports."
The reports list at least two years of data, including a six quarter
forecast of the capital expenditures for construction and equipment, as
well as capacity, geometries, wafer sizes, and milestones. Existing
customers that subscribed to the resource through Strategic Marketing
Associates will still be able to access and renew their accounts by
