LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ --Food 4 Less, California's leading
price-impact supermarket chain, has reached an agreement with seven Southern
California United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) union locals to extend its
collective bargaining agreement through April 4, 2004. The labor agreement
with the seven UFCW locals had been set to expire on February 28, 2004.
Southern California UFCW Locals 135, 324, 770, 1036, 1167, 1428 and 1442
unanimously agreed to the contract extension. The seven Southern California
UFCW union locals are currently in the midst of contract talks with Ralphs,
Albertsons and Vons.
The contract extension will allow Food 4 Less team members to continue to
work under the provisions of their current labor agreement past its expiration
date.

The Southern California collective bargaining agreement covers 5,700
Food 4 Less team members working in 101 Food 4 Less-operated stores serving
Kern, Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego,
Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
Food 4 Less currently operates 134 price-impact, warehouse-format
supermarkets under the banners Food 4 Less in Southern California, Nevada,
Illinois and Indiana, and Foods Co in Northern California, from its
