Services Provide Policy-Based Encryption for Private, Secure
Business-to-Business and Business-to-End-User Communications

availability of Postini Encryption Manager, a suite of managed security
services to encrypt and secure connections between email servers and email
message content. Encryption Manager, with the Connection Security Module,
builds on Postini's industry leading support for the TLS (transport layer
security) encryption standard to provide comprehensive policy management tools
for establishing and maintaining secure networks between messaging servers.
The Zix Encryption Module provides for full content-level encryption to secure
message content and enable delivery of this content to end users where server-
to-server security is not available or not desired.
Postini Encryption Manager solutions are designed to overcome the
complexity, incompatibility, and costs associated with multiple encryption
standards and technologies, paving the way for an industry-first federated
encryption managed service.

Today, Postini operates one of the world's largest TLS encryption
networks, processing tens of millions of encrypted messages per day. With the
Encryption Manager Connection Security Module, Postini enhances its TLS
support to provide comprehensive policy-based management for server-to-server
connections. The Connection Security Module can enforce mandatory domain-
level TLS connections, restrict connections that cannot be encrypted, and
generate alerts when TLS policy cannot be enforced. IT has command and control
over which messages must be delivered via mandatory TLS to which domains.
For instances where server-to-server encryption cannot be established, or
where connection level security is not preferred, the Zix Encryption Module
allows for encryption of message content. Based on Zix Corporation
(Nasdaq: ZIXI) encryption technology, the Zix Encryption Module is designed to
eliminate the complexities of software installation and ongoing key
management. Customers are able to send encrypted email to anyone, regardless
of whether a pre-existing encryption solution is installed with the recipient.
With the Zix Encryption Module, a policy can be established to encrypt all
messages from a sender or group of senders, or can encrypt all messages
flagged as "sensitive" or "confidential." Postini will encrypt the message,
post the message in a secure web portal, and notify the recipient of the
message. The recipient can authenticate with the Postini system and securely
read and reply to the message. The recipient also has the ability to install
their own key, allowing end-point delivery of subsequent encrypted messages.
Encryption Manager supports the Zix encryption standard today, with support
for PGP, S/MIME, and other market standard encryption solutions planned for
deployment shortly. With the federation of numerous content-level encryption
standards, the Postini Encryption Manager enables a new era of seamless
interoperability across the market standards.
Using Postini's new encryption service, IT does not need to build and
maintain dedicated secure networks such as VPNs between partners. And
Encryption Manager offers comprehensive policy-based encryption capabilities
protecting companies from the risk of users who may forget to encrypt
sensitive or regulated messages. This functionality is available to Postini
customers seamlessly, without the installation of new hardware or software,
