Finjan Announces a New Strategy and Product Roadmap for 2006 and Beyond

Pioneer and Industry Leader in Proactive, Behavior-Based Detection of
Malicious Content Focuses On Core Competency -- Web Security -- and Launches
SDK for OEMs

Visit Finjan's exhibit at RSA -- Booth 218

RSA Conference, McEnery Convention Center, SAN JOSE, California, February
13 /PRNewswire/ -- Finjan Software Inc., the global provider of best-of-breed
proactive web security solutions for businesses and organizations, today
announced new business directions for 2006 and beyond that leverage the
company's pioneering expertise in proactive, behavior-based detection of
malicious content. Key elements of Finjan's strategy going forward include an
exclusive focus on web security for its award-winning Vital Security(TM)
appliances, as well as the introduction of its Vital Security(TM) SDK
(Software Development Kit) offering for the OEM marketplace. Finjan is
showcasing its solutions at the RSA Conference, February 14-18, in San Jose.
The Finjan exhibit is located at Booth 218.
"Web-based attacks -- including Spyware, Phishing, viruses, Trojans and
other malicious code -- have become the main focus of the hackers community
and pose some of the greatest challenges to businesses and organizations
today," said Asher Polani, Finjan CEO. "We at Finjan recognize that these
security threats are paramount, and to counter them we are focusing on web
security solutions that uniquely leverage our leadership in behavior-based
technology. Our web security offerings represent a new class of security
solution -- one that is available only from Finjan and that reflects our
commitment to keep our customers ahead of new and emerging threats and
provide them with an always-secure connected business environment. During the
last year we have achieved a dramatic technology advantage in our
next-generation security appliances that will enable us to assert our
position as the market leader in web security," added Polani.
"Active web content, arriving in email, instant messaging, or simple web
surfing, is a perpetual thorn in the side of corporate security teams.
Security solutions that implement proactive behavior-based detection play a
critical role in reducing the risk associated with web-borne threats," said
Eric Ogren security analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. "Finjan's
technology direction meets a clear market need as companies seek protection
against malicious code from increasingly sophisticated hackers and criminals."
Polani further noted, "We will also address the broader content security
market, by offering OEMs an SDK incorporating our patented next-generation
behavior-based technology for protection against unknown attacks as well as
vulnerability and spyware detection -- which provide unmatched protection
against malicious content. We will provide our SDK to vendors seeking to
complement their solutions with a sophisticated security layer of defense
that blocks unknown attacks based on code behavior and exploitation of known
vulnerabilities. Finjan offers the only
proactive behavior-based security solution at the gateway, and as such,
is the clear choice for OEMs targeting this market."
Polani said he expects the Vital Security(TM) SDK to be widely adopted
both by vendors of Secure Content Management (SCM) solutions -- a market
expected to reach $10.5 billion in revenues by 2009, up from $5.5 billion in
2005 -- and non-security solutions. SCM customers will include secure
messaging as well as firewall vendors, intrusion detection and intrusion
prevention vendors. Non-security OEMs adopting the SDK will include vendors
of storage and caching devices, network switches, etc.
According to Polani, the decision to focus Finjan's resources on web
security will result in further optimized solutions that meet growing market
requirements for defenses against malicious web-borne code. "These web
threats inflict serious damage that affects business performance, including
corporate confidential information, reduced employee productivity and network
downtime," he said. "Finjan's mission has always been to stay ahead of
unknown and emerging threats and attacks, enabling us to provide zero-hour
protection to our customers. This mission continues to stand today, as we now
focus on providing the best web security solutions in the market."
    Notes to Editors --
Patented behavior-based technology proactively repels all web-borne
threats
Finjan's Vital Security(TM) Web Appliances utilize patented
behavior-based technology to proactively repel all types of web-borne
threats. The Finjan appliances protect against new and unknown attacks long
before traditional anti-virus companies can release a signature update or
other software vendors can patch their solutions. In addition, Finjan's
Malicious Code Research Center (MCRC) enables customers to continuously
benefit from early discovery of new software vulnerabilities prior to the
availability of software patches.
Finjan's advanced technology determines the behavior that a given piece
of content will exhibit when loaded into the web browser. Expert hackers --
familiar with the workings of traditional countermeasures such as firewalls,
anti-virus and intrusion detection and prevention products -- are continually
crafting new malicious code targeted to "outsmart" such systems. Finjan's
unique patented behavior-based technology for web security is one of the
first solutions on the market that can stop known and unknown threats, at the
gateway.
In addition to its behavior-based technology, Finjan's web security
appliances incorporate the company's Vulnerability Anti.dote(TM) engine for
virtual patching, dedicated Anti-Spyware reporting, and integrate leading
third-party Anti-Virus security engines. The Finjan appliances also offer
optional modules for secure socket layer (SSL) inspection, load balancing,
and a choice of third-party URL Filtering engines.
These advanced technologies will enable Finjan to extend the lead of its
Vital Security(TM) appliances as the industry's preferred web security
solution. One likely result will be the inclusion of Finjan's appliances in a
growing number of best-of-breed unified threat management (UTM) solutions
created by enterprise customers and vendors.
Important supporting elements in Finjan's strategy
Additional elements in Finjan's strategy going forward include:
    - 'Build-Out' of Finjan's executive team. Finjan has extended its top
management ranks to
drive changes in the company and meet the challenges of the security
industry with additional hires of experienced security industry veterans.
    - Attractive offering. Finjan offers its Vital Security(TM) appliance as
an "all-in-one" web security solution, resulting in an extremely attractive
pricing scheme.
    - Expansion plans. Finjan is leveraging its superior technology to create
new products for emerging market segments, widen its penetration into new
geographies and extend its partnership model based on the newly announced
Vital Security(TM) SDK.
    - Investor team. Finjan's stellar roster of investors, which includes
Benchmark Capital, Israel Seed Partners, HarbourVest, Bessemer, Microsoft and
Cisco, provides strong financial backing.
