Aggressive Timeline and Integration of Acquired Netegrity Solutions
Address Customer Needs for Greater Security and Lower Costs
ISLANDIA, N.Y., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Associates
International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) today unveiled its strategic roadmap for a
complete, integrated and open identity and access management (IAM)
architecture that will empower IT organizations to better secure their
environments and successfully cope with increased complexity and a growing
number of internal and external end users.
The roadmap features an aggressive timeline for continued innovation in
identity and access management, including important advances in federation,
compliance and policy management -- as well as continued development of
technology acquired through acquisition of Netegrity and integration of the
Netegrity product line into CA's industry-leading eTrust IAM Suite. By
continuing to invest aggressively in IAM, CA is uniquely enabling customers to
optimize security, streamline administrative operations, and respond more
effectively to rapidly changing business needs.
"As a Netegrity customer, we believe that we will benefit substantially
from the considerable synergies with CA's eTrust IAM technology set," said
Karl Jackson, senior systems engineer, Office of Information Technology,
Brigham Young University. "CA is clearly ready, willing and able to help us
address our increasingly complex security, provisioning and compliance
challenges."
At the RSA Conference 2005 in San Francisco, CA announced key milestones
for the roadmap and showcased integration between acquired Netegrity products
and eTrust solutions. CA also announced the availability of eTrust IAM Suite
r8, the industry's most advanced and comprehensive IAM offering, and eTrust
SiteMinder support for SAML 2.0 (see related releases).
"Deep integration between products in an identity and access management
product suite simplifies administration, monitoring, and audit processes for
large enterprises," said Phil Schacter, vice president and service director of
the Burton Group. "CA is demonstrating that this level of integration is
possible, and is setting a high standard in the market for similar
capabilities in any identity and access management suite."
Key points of the roadmap are:
Integration of Netegrity Products into eTrust IAM Suite
CA will fully integrate the Netegrity products into release 9 of its
industry-leading eTrust IAM suite while continuing to expand individual
product capabilities, with phased releases beginning this summer. eTrust IAM
suite r9 will feature new releases of eTrust SiteMinder, eTrust
TransactionMinder and eTrust IdentityMinder-Web Edition, as well as a best-of-
breed provisioning offering, which will combine the strengths of eTrust
IdentityMinder-eProvision and eTrust Admin.
At the RSA Conference 2005, CA is showcasing:
* Integrated single-sign on capabilities between eTrust SiteMinder and
eTrust SSO, enabling end-users to streamline access from Web and non-web
applications
* Integration of the auditing functions of eTrust SiteMinder, eTrust
TransactionMinder and eTrust IdentityMinder-Web Edition with eTrust
Security Command Center to deliver an enterprise view of compliance
status
* Integration of eTrust IdentityMinder-Web Edition's self-service and user
administration functions with eTrust Admin empowering end-users to
manage their identities across enterprise and federated environments.
Secure, streamlined provisioning
CA's strategy is focused on better aligning IT with business by extending
the reach of provisioning solutions from a user perspective to total
provisioning of devices, resources and services. CA will:
* Extend the features of eTrust Admin and eTrust IdentityMinder-eProvision
to include federated and Web services provisioning for business-to-
business enablement. This solution will be available in phases, with
the first deliverable in summer 2005.
* Enhance and maintain both eTrust IdentityMinder-eProvision and eTrust
Admin. CA will provide all customers with a smooth migration path to
the new provisioning solution.
Web services security
Building on eTrust TransactionMinder, CA will deliver a comprehensive Web
services security solution later this year that combines identity-centric
capabilities with network- and application-centric security mechanisms. Key
new features will include schema validation, intelligent filtering and denial-
of-service attack blocking. eTrust TransactionMinder will support Unicenter
WSDM to provide an integrated Web services security and management solution,
enabling customers to instantaneously define and process policies which
incorporate identity-centric and service-level transactions
Identity federation
CA will continue its aggressive identity federation strategy with the
delivery of support for SAML 2.0 in eTrust SiteMinder in the summer of 2005.
Future releases of eTrust solutions will provide comprehensive auditing and
provisioning capabilities for federated environments. These solutions will
also enable eTrust users to give their customers control over how their
private information is shared within federated business partnerships.
Common Policy Management
eTrust solutions will provide robust policy management technology that
enables customers to leverage XACML (eXtensible Access Control Markup
Language) to bring disparate systems under common policy management. By
delivering comprehensive auditing and provisioning capabilities for federated
environments, these solutions will also enable employees and consumers to
control how their private information is shared within federated business
partnerships.
"CA understands that you need to know who is in your environment, what
they can do and what they did -- and that to achieve this goal, you need a
common architecture that encompasses all of your users, resources and
services," said Bilhar Mann vice president of eTrust Identity and Access
Management. "Our leadership of the IAM market and our well-defined roadmap
shows that we will continue to deliver on our vision -- so that customers can
maintain control of their IT environments and their IT overhead."
