New Appliance Will Expand the Sentarus Product Line With Centralized Network
and Host-Based Security Solutions Geared for Every Size Network
SAN FRANCISCO, RSA Security Conference, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Demarc
Security, a global provider of dynamic threat management solutions, today
announced the development of a new maximum performance Sentarus-based network
and host-based security appliance designed to seamlessly handle sustained
multi-gigabit throughput in both passive and in-line modes.
The new multi-gigabit appliance will allow companies to monitor high
levels of network traffic on multiple networks. Geared for carrier class
networks, and large pipeline Internet connections whose extremely heavy
traffic makes their security systems even more vital, the new Sentarus
appliances will allow companies to maximize their responsiveness to known and
unknown security threats as they occur in real-time with Intrusion Detection
and Prevention, Vulnerability Management, System Integrity Verification,
Extensible Service Monitoring and Event Correlation.
Current deployment scenarios would require several appliances and a
load-balancing system to achieve an approximation of the performance provided
by this new solution. The addition of the new multi-gigabit appliance to the
Sentarus product line-up will enable a company that manages multiple networks
with varied performance requirements to deploy the appropriate solution for
each network it manages. In addition to the multi-gigabit appliance currently
being developed, Sentarus also offers Enterprise and Workgroup Editions for
large enterprise networks and small and medium-sized business networks. Since
the entire Sentarus product line is interoperable, a mixed deployment of a
small business solution for smaller network performance needs, an enterprise
solution for higher performance needs, and a multi-gigabit solution for
extremely high traffic requirements will still be monitored and controlled
from a single management console.
Typically, companies offer only multi-gigabit solutions or only solutions
for lower performance requirements, forcing a company to deploy all high-end,
multi-gigabit appliances to achieve a centralized solution, or to purchase and
deploy disparate solutions that are not interoperable, greatly reducing the
company's security posture. By offering the ability to centrally monitor and
control multiple network security solutions from a single management console,
the Sentarus product line bridges a gap in the current security market and
allows enterprises and service providers to invest only in the traffic
performance required for their networks and still maintain centralized
monitoring and management of their entire network security.
"We're excited to offer a multi-gigabit performance solution that no one
else currently provides within an integrated, centralized network security
system," said Brendan Rizzo, CEO, Demarc. "Our new appliance will enhance our
product line so we can provide even greater performance and pricing
flexibility to meet the individual needs of our customers and their diverse
networks."
To further enable companies to manage varied network needs, Sentarus also
introduced Virtual Sensors. Virtual Sensors logically segment traffic on a
single network, separating different divisions, departments or regions.
Virtual Sensors enable large throughput connections to be divided into more
manageable pieces allowing different security policies to be applied to each
segment, and allowing users to see only the network traffic for which they
have been granted access. For example, Virtual Sensors can separate and
control access to business and financial information, to help companies
achieve compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
With a newly complete product line to meet varied network requirements
that offers specialized features such as Virtual Sensors, Sentarus provides
comprehensive, flexible network and host-based security solutions to small and
medium sized businesses, large enterprises, service providers, and carrier
class networks.
General Availability
The Sentarus Enterprise multi-gigabit appliance is currently undergoing a
rigorous performance testing process. General availability will be announced
in the second quarter of 2005.
