New Solution to Identify, Classify and Encrypt Sensitive Data Anywhere in the
Enterprise Based on Centrally Defined Policies
RSA CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Voltage
Security, Inc., a global leader in enterprise privacy management, and Tablus,
Inc., a leading provider of content protection solutions, today announced that
they have teamed to deliver a comprehensive classification-based encryption
and content protection solution. For the first time, enterprises will be able
to automatically identify sensitive data and quarantine, delete or encrypt
that data in real time based on content classification. This joint offering
will integrate Voltage Identity-Based Encryption(TM) (IBE) with Tablus Content
Sentinel(TM), Tablus Content Alarm NW(TM) and Tablus Content Alarm DT(TM).
The first of these solutions, integrating Voltage IBE into Content Sentinel,
is being demonstrated at this week's RSA Conference 2006 at the McEnery
Convention Center in San Jose, Calif.
"We believe that classification-based encryption can only be realized
through an Identity-Based Encryption approach, since existing encryption
techniques result in significant key management problems," said Ed Murrer,
vice president of marketing at Tablus. "Identity-Based Encryption allows
Voltage and Tablus to be the first to offer this 'three-step' approach;
identify, classify and encrypt, enabling companies to seamlessly encrypt
sensitive content, transparently to end users."
In the first of the joint offerings to be released by the two companies,
Content Sentinel with Voltage IBE will identify sensitive data-at-rest,
classifying it according to corporate privacy guidelines then encrypting,
quarantining or deleting the data based on pre-set policies. Administrators
can also control who can decrypt content by controlling the membership of a
group of users. For example, if a file is encrypted to the "management"
classification, then only those members of the "management" group will be able
to read the file. Today, Tablus Content Sentinel accurately identifies,
locates and controls sensitive information within large enterprise networks.
It simultaneously scans networks, laptops, desktops and servers for data
violations and quarantines or deletes the corresponding files for immediate
remediation. By integrating Content Sentinel with Voltage IBE, enterprises
will gain the ability to automatically encrypt data, such as Personally
Identifiable Information (PII) and credit card data to meet increasingly high
compliance standards.
Voltage and Tablus plan to integrate Voltage IBE with all three Tablus
offerings to simplify the process of encrypting sensitive data at rest, in
motion and in use. Voltage IBE differs from other encryption products on the
market due to its use of any well known identity such as a common email
address as the public key, enabling data to be protected without the use of
certificates. For data in motion, Content Alarm NW with Voltage IBE will
block, quarantine or encrypt sensitive data leaving the organization according
to pre-determined corporate policy. For data stored on desktops, Content
Alarm DT will be integrated with Voltage IBE to restrict data usage and
encrypt selected data according to corporate policy.
"Security solutions targeted at preventing insider threats have
traditionally been single step offerings," said Brian Burke, research manager
for IDC's Security Products service. "While the integration of encryption
technology is recognized as a best practice in the protection of sensitive
data, it has typically been difficult to implement and manage. Further, there
simply has not been a way for enterprises to encrypt only the information of
high value. The combined Tablus-Voltage solution offers a unique approach to
automatically encrypting sensitive data, while making it easy to deploy and
manage."
Tablus' solutions will utilize the recently announced Voltage Enterprise
Privacy Management Integration Kit(TM) (see companion release from Voltage
Security) for data privacy to plug into the Voltage Enterprise Privacy
Management platform. The Voltage Enterprise Privacy Management platform
provides consistent enforcement of privacy policies across the enterprise and
simplified key management across encryption silos through the use of Voltage
Identity-Based Encryption.
"The Tablus solution is perfect for anyone that has high value, sensitive
information dispersed across the organization. Customers can easily discover,
classify and encrypt sensitive information to reduce the risk of privacy
breaches and compliance violations. By integrating into the Voltage Enterprise
Privacy Management platform, Tablus' solutions take advantage of Voltage IBE
as well as simplified key management and centralized policy made possible by
the platform," said Wasim Ahmad, vice president of marketing, Voltage
Security. "The combination of Tablus content protection technology with
Voltage IBE ensures that sensitive information remains encrypted and only
usable by those who 'need to know'."
Tablus Content Sentinel will be fully integrated with the Voltage
Enterprise Privacy Management platform in the second quarter of 2006. Tablus
and Voltage will work to extend Voltage IBE technology into Content Alarm NW
and Content Alarm DT in the second half of 2006.
