Interoperable Solution Delivers a Secure and Smooth End-User Experience While
Ensuring That All Stored Data is Protected With FIPS-140-2
Certified Encryption
SAN JOSE, Calif., RSA Conference 2006, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- CREDANT
Technologies(R), the market leader in security solutions that enable
organizations to protect and control mobile data enterprise-wide, today
announced that it has joined the RSA Secured(R) Partner Program, and CREDANT's
flagship product, CREDANT Mobile Guardian (CMG) Enterprise Edition has been
awarded RSA Secured(R) certification with RSA SecurID(R) for Microsoft(R)
Windows(R) solution, signaling its interoperability with industry leading
two-factor authentication technology from RSA Security. CREDANT and RSA
Security have completed extensive interoperability testing that will allow
CREDANT to offer an interoperable solution to joint enterprise customers by
ensuring that notebook computers, tablet PCs and valuable network resources
are accessible only by authorized users.
The RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows solution is designed to provide
secure access to Microsoft Windows networks and desktops. RSA SecurID for
Microsoft Windows software helps to provide greater security than weak, static
passwords. By combining something the user knows (i.e., a secret PIN) with
something the user possesses (i.e., a unique RSA SecurID token that generates
a one-time password every 60 seconds), Microsoft Windows customers gain an
effective way to secure user access to valuable company resources. The RSA
SecurID for Microsoft Windows solution is engineered to provide a single,
consistent user login experience, regardless of whether the user is working
on-or offline, remotely or inside the walls of the enterprise.
"Similar to data privacy regulations that provide guidelines on data
encryption, authentication guidelines such as the Federal Financial
Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) state that passwords alone are
inadequate for online banking." stated Richard Stone, Vice President of
Business Development, CREDANT Technologies. "We are very excited about our
expanded relationship with RSA Security. We believe that compliance to
authentication guidelines will impact remote and mobile workforces in the near
future, and two-factor authentication technology combined with encryption of
stored data will become the norm, not the exception."
With CREDANT Mobile Guardian, companies can cost-effectively support a
mobile workforce and improve employee productivity, with the peace of mind
that their sensitive information is secure. CREDANT Mobile Guardian secures
notebooks, tablet PCs, PDAs, external media and smart phones from a single
management interface, while uniquely integrating with enterprise directories
for centralized security policy management.
CREDANT introduced the industry's first FIPS 140-2 certified
Intelligence-based encryption solution for Microsoft Windows. This approach
dramatically reduces overhead and manageability by not encrypting Windows
operating systems and program files and provides user-transparent data
encryption that is controlled by a single security policy set by IT. The
technically interoperable CREDANT and RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows
products are engineered to deliver a secure and smooth end-user experience
that eliminates the need for a password while ensuring that all data stored on
the computer is protected with FIPS-140-2 certified encryption.
"The driving reason that customers choose to implement RSA SecurID for
Microsoft Windows is to replace weak, user defined passwords, with a strong
two-factor authentication system," according to Stuart Cohen, director of
partner development at RSA Security. "Companies are struggling to maintain
secure access to vital information and applications and the technology
partnership between CREDANT and RSA Security provides a valuable solution to
end users."
