Solution Minimizes Downtime by Combining nFX Open Security Platform Threat
Identification With CyberGatekeeper Network Access Control and Remediation
RSA Conference, SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoExpress, the
leader in network access control solutions, today announced that it has joined
forces with netForensics, Inc., the pioneer and recognized market leader in
Security Information Management (SIM), to offer a comprehensive, proactive
policy management and endpoint security compliance package for enterprise
customers. The joint solution combines the dynamic endpoint security
monitoring capabilities of netForensics nFX Open Security Platform with
automated, targeted mitigation available through InfoExpress's award-winning
CyberGatekeeper. The resulting proposed intelligent mitigation solution, which
the companies will demonstrate at the RSA conference in booth #1711, enables
enterprise and security managers to centrally enforce security and compliance
standards, while dynamically identifying and resolving security threats as
they appear.
"Enterprises today must protect increasingly complex networks against
emerging security threats that continue to grow more sophisticated," said Todd
Nakano, executive vice president for InfoExpress. "Without some way to
centrally monitor and manage network endpoints, this task becomes virtually
unmanageable, particularly in the face of increasing vulnerabilities and
industry compliance regulations. Managed and unmanaged hosts are connected to
the network via remote access, WLANs, WANs, and the LAN, with each endpoint
representing a potential threat that can disrupt an organization's network."
InfoExpress CyberGatekeeper NAC uses an organization's existing network
infrastructure to block network access from all endpoint devices that fail to
comply with corporate-mandated security policies. CyberGatekeeper provides
flexible, comprehensive endpoint auditing and remediation capabilities for the
latest security patches and known malicious programs. Wired and wireless
devices that have outdated, unauthorized, misconfigured or missing security
utilities, such as anti-virus programs and personal firewalls, or
non-compliant systems are quarantined and remediated before being allowed
access to the network. As a result, CyberGatekeeper prevents viruses, worms,
Trojans and other malicious applications and vulnerabilities from infecting
the network through PCs, laptops, PDAs and other devices that fail to comply
with current security policies.
netForensics nFX Open Security Platform (nFX OSP) monitors network and
security devices and applications throughout the network to notify network and
security managers of critical threats and risks. By utilizing its
industry-leading event and log correlation technology, netForensics can go one
step further and take information from other security products, such as
IPS/IDS systems to detect endpoint threats that might otherwise get ignored.
Once a threat is detected, nFX OSP communicates with the CyberGatekeeper
Server to dynamically quarantine the offending endpoint. CyberGatekeeper then
fixes the potentially vulnerable endpoint's problem automatically such as
running a spyware scan or an antivirus update. Once the endpoint is deemed
healthy again, it is allowed back on to the network. When the endpoint is
connected to the network, CyberGatekeeper and nFX OSP continuously monitor its
security posture.
The combined solution allows enterprises to correlate detailed endpoint
and network infrastructure data into security threats and to identify and act
on specific endpoint threats. Endpoints that have been misconfigured or
hijacked for malicious activities are automatically remediated, and unknown or
malicious endpoints are quarantined. The solution provides reporting on
results and automated resolution of problems.
"netForensics is committed to demonstrating broader security solutions
that combine SIM with other technologies to provide the full value of SIM by
enabling broader solutions that connect different technologies across the
information security lifecycle," said Jeremy Nazarian, director of marketing,
netForensics. "The intelligent mitigation solution allows security
organizations to leverage information from nFX OSP to dynamically update
security policy and perform selective remediation with limited end-user
downtime."
"The InfoExpress/netForensics combination provides our customers with
unparalleled visibility and control over their networks and attached devices,"
said Nakano. "Our proactive controls over initial network access, combined
with the ability to react to new threats on the fly provide comprehensive
network protection from existing and emerging threats to ensure crucial
business activities can continue uninterrupted."
Additional information on the InfoExpress/netForensics combination will be
available in booth #1711 at the RSA Conference.
