Provides Industry's Most Scalable Endpoint Security Policy Validation &
Enforcement Solution
RSA, SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Sygate Technologies, Inc. and
Foundry Networks(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY), a performance and total solutions
leader for end-to-end switching and routing, demonstrated enterprise security
enforcement by integrating Sygate's Network Access Control solutions with
Foundry's high-performance Ethernet switches. The interoperability
demonstration is taking place at the RSA Conference 2005, held in San
Francisco this week. By working together, Sygate and Foundry are showing how
to increase security of corporate LANs by ensuring that endpoints are in a
trusted state before gaining access to the network.
Sygate enforces security policies to ensure that corporate devices are in
compliance with security policy before they connect to the network. For
devices used outside the corporate network, Sygate provides industry-leading
firewall and intrusion protection technologies. By interoperating with
Foundry, Sygate extends its compliance guarantee to all devices connecting to
a corporate LAN.
"Partnering with Sygate is an important step toward further increasing the
security of our customer's networks," said Bob Schiff, vice president of
Product Marketing at Foundry Networks. "Combating the increasingly complex and
costly security threats facing corporate LANs requires close cooperation
between the switching infrastructure and security systems. This partnership
signals Foundry's determination to provide our customers with the most
complete solutions possible."
To accomplish this task, pre-defined security policies, such as up-to-date
anti-virus software, patches, encryption, or endpoint firewall rules are
created using Sygate's flagship endpoint security product, Sygate Secure
Enterprise (SSE). When a user enters the network, SSE initiates 802.1X
authentication with Foundry's Ethernet switches. During user authentication,
Sygate enforces the security and remediation policies that have been defined
by the security administrator within SSE. Foundry's switches then use this
information to provide specific user-based access policies. If an endpoint is
not compliant, the user can either be denied access, quarantined into a user
group that has restricted access privileges or redirected to a remediation
server.
At RSA, Foundry and Sygate are demonstrating these capabilities using a
Foundry FastIron Edge Switch (FES) 2402, and version 4.1 of Sygate's SSE.
Visitors to Foundry booth 1423 and Sygate booth 1321 can see the switch and
security software work together to enforce different levels of network access,
based on the security stance of the connecting endpoint.
"The Sygate/Foundry combined solution ensures that customers have the
highest possible level of security compliance, and therefore are much less
likely to be impacted by a security event," said John De Santis, CEO, Sygate.
"We have many large enterprise customers in common with Foundry, and this
partnership will deliver substantial value to them by providing a security
strategy that addresses a hostile security environment."
Users interested in more information about the combined solution are
encouraged to stop by the Foundry or Sygate booth at RSA 2005, or contact
their local Foundry or Sygate representative.
