Seamless Integration of Lavasoft's Ad-Aware With Sygate Secure Enterprise
Eliminates Spyware Without Additional Administrative Overhead
SAN FRANCISCO, RSA Conference 2005 (Booth #1321), Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ --
Sygate Technologies today announced that its flagship Network Access Control
(NAC) solution, Sygate Secure Enterprise 4.1 (SSE), now eliminates spyware
from corporate and government networks. By integrating Lavasoft's leading
spyware solution, Ad-Aware, with SSE 4.1, Sygate for the first time provides
anti-spyware protection within a NAC environment without adding another
management interface.
SSE 4.1 ensures "Compliance on Contact(TM)" through intelligent policy
enforcement -- protecting computers, data and networks from misuse, malicious
access and misconfiguration. By licensing and branding Lavasoft's Ad-Aware 6.0
SE as Sygate Anti-Spyware Business Edition (BE) Sygate ensures that any
endpoint connecting to the network or the Internet is free from spyware and in
continuous compliance with corporate security policies before it is granted
network access.
"Spyware is not going away -- it has grown from an annoying pest to
consumer PCs into one of the greatest threats to enterprise network security,"
said Fernando Francisco, vice president, strategy and business development for
Lavasoft. " Lavasoft's Ad-Aware product in combination with Sygate's Network
Access Control platform ensures that end users can leverage the full benefits
of the Internet without exposing enterprise networks to compromise."
Spyware on public and corporate networks permits hackers, thieves and
spies to steal user IDs, passwords and other sensitive corporate information.
By integrating with Lavasoft, Sygate extends its compliance guarantee to
devices that are infected with spyware. Sygate Anti-Spyware Business Edition
(BE) offers predefined rules that the administrators can use to confirm the
existence of the Anti-Spyware client and that the spywatch service is running.
Before granting an endpoint access to the network, Sygate enforces spyware
enforcement and remediation policies. If an endpoint is not compliant, the
user can either be denied access, quarantined into a user group that has
restricted access privileges or redirected to a remediation server.
"The beauty of leveraging policy enforcement as a security strategy is
that it ensures that the protections you have already purchased are working
correctly and that you can add new ones without increasing total cost of
ownership," said John De Santis, CEO, Sygate. "Sygate is pleased to offer
Anti-Spyware Business Edition to eliminate spyware and ensure that security
policies concerning spyware can be properly enforced."
