Priva Technologies Advances Multi-Factor Authentication Platform

Cleared Security Platform Version 2.5 Redefines Single-Point Authentication,
Providing Authentication with Certainty for Systems, Users, and Networks

    SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Conference 2005, Booth #1622
-- Priva Technologies, Inc., a provider of advanced hardware and software-
based authentication security platforms, today announced a major upgrade to
the Cleared(R) Security Platform, the company's flagship multi-factor
authentication solution. The Cleared Security Platform offers significant
advantages over existing approaches to authentication, such as passwords,
time-based tokens, smart cards and other devices, by providing the highest
levels of intrusion protection available in one single-point, end-to-end
authentication system, while enhancing flexibility and end-user convenience.
With the introduction of single-point, one-time password (OTP) integration
with directory services, version 2.5 enables companies to authenticate Web
Services, executed by the user, through a central endpoint to enhance
protection against session hijacking or other security breaches. Version 2.5
also enhances the Cleared Security Platform's extensibility through support
for .NET, email signing and public key infrastructure (PKI). As a result,
organizations can easily deploy the solution within their existing IT
environments, with the confidence that it is extensible to future
applications.
Glacier Systems, a full-service document management company for the legal
industry, uses the Cleared Security Platform to provide clients with secure
access to legal records and data via their Iceberg online repository for data
and images.
"The legal profession vigorously controls access to sensitive client data
requiring that only authorized users have access, and that each access is
fully auditable. The only way to have this kind of certainty is through a
solution like the Cleared Security Platform that can authenticate the user,
and what the user is accessing at all times," said Tom Tigh, president,
Glacier Systems. "Priva Technologies is breaking new ground by making it a
reality for companies like ours to meet our client's requirements for user
authentication, without making large-scale changes to how we operate."
    "Today's two-factor authentication technologies are yesterday's approach
to security, and as a result are inflexible, costly and vulnerable to threats.
By redefining the authentication trust model, Priva extends authentication to
provide jurisdictional proof of the user and the user's activities -- without
sacrificing convenience," said Jeff Minushkin, CEO and founder, Priva
Technologies. "We designed the Cleared Security Platform with an
understanding of customers' needs for a customizable, auditable, end-to-end
platform without compromise. New integration capabilities in the platform
continue to offer unparalleled levels of security, while making it even easier
for customers to deploy the solution quickly and cost-effectively."
Priva's Cleared Security Platform provides multi-factored authentication
with certainty for enterprises and government agencies requiring stringent
access control from individuals, systems, and networks. The platform
incorporates the highest levels of intrusion protection available, and
consists of the ClearedHost(TM), a secure authentication server, the
ClearedChip(TM), a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated authentication microchip, and
the ClearedKey(TM), a key fob-sized biometric authentication device
incorporating the ClearedChip. With an available open API, and the ability to
easily integrate new and legacy applications, the Cleared Security Platform
results in lower maintenance, more controllable access and increased long-term
return on investment.

    Highlights of New Features
New features in the Cleared Security Platform 2.5 are designed to provide
superior security while allowing ease of deployment with existing systems, and
