Featuring Context Aware Authorization(TM) (CONTEXT(TM)), Version 2.0
authorizes user access to corporate resources based on organizational role,
access method, PC status and known responses to vulnerabilities.
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- ENDFORCE, the leading choice for
interoperable, context-aware endpoint security, today announced it will debut
Version 2.0 of its ENDFORCE Enterprise software at the RSA Conference and
Exhibition, Booth 1429, to be held Feb. 15, 16, and 17 in San Francisco.
Version 2.0, available to customers next month, features Context Aware
Authorization (CONTEXT) technology.
CONTEXT technology, combines flexible assessment and reporting tools with
comprehensive enforcement capabilities, helping enterprises to deal with the
challenge of securing PCs used by contractors, tele-workers, road warriors and
LAN-based employees which combines powerful assessment and reporting tools
with comprehensive enforcement capabilities. CONTEXT technology allows
authorization of user access to corporate resources within the context of
their organizational role, network access method, PC status and known
responses to security vulnerabilities.
Using powerful new Agent and DHCP quarantine capabilities, ENDFORCE
Enterprise v2.0 enables corporations to enforce security policies on both
managed endpoints, such as those used by LAN-based or mobile workers, and
unmanaged endpoints used by contractors, tele-workers and others. In addition,
businesses using ENDFORCE Enterprise can now schedule policy compliance checks
to be conducted prior to network access and at customer-selectable intervals
after authentication. By adding Agent and DHCP quarantine options to its
existing support for 802.1x and Radius enforcement mechanisms, ENDFORCE rounds
out the tools available to enterprises. ENDFORCE now pairs in-depth "off the
shelf" assessment of leading security applications and operating systems with
flexible customer-defined assessments, and adds 100 percent enforcement
coverage achieved through comprehensive network-based and agent-based
quarantine methods.
"Security executives need to provide an increasingly dynamic workforce
with easy access to critical applications while limiting the network's
exposure to worms, viruses, and other malware traffic. With ENDFORCE
Enterprise and CONTEXT technology they are able to fulfill on this promise
with confidence and assurance," said ENDFORCE President and Chief Executive
Officer Greg Moore.
ENDFORCE Enterprise now enables end user organizations to assess and
enforce endpoint security policies for all users on the network, including
contractors, telecommuters, remote users, and office-based workers. Rogue
machines are automatically quarantined without the need for network re-
engineering. Whether a machine connects via the LAN or remote VPN, ENDFORCE
Enterprise solves the problem, using Context Aware Authorization technology.
Specific benefits of CONTEXT technology include:
User Awareness: Access to specific corporate resources is based on the
clearance level and information requirements of defined organizational
roles, including executive management, employees, remote workers and
contractors.
Access Awareness: A single policy can be enforced independent of access
method and technology, or tailored to the differing risk profile of
various access methods, from LAN to WiFi to broadband.
PC Status: Device status is determined through contextual analysis of the
status of installed security applications, O/S, Service Pack, QFEs, and
related applications, and customized assessments.
Vulnerability Awareness: Responses to security vulnerabilities, including
O/S patches and security application updates, are assessed for
availability, relevance and status and automatically packaged for
enterprise use in authorization policies.
"Awareness of the urgent need for endpoint security policy enforcement is
growing rapidly among large enterprises," said Jim Slaby, Senior Analyst at
the Yankee Group. "Innovative vendors like ENDFORCE are bringing new context-
aware network access control capabilities to market. As enterprises extend
access to an ever more mobile and distributed base of employees, customers,
partners, and suppliers, such technology will become an essential mechanism to
prevent legitimate end-user systems from being used as vehicles for security
attacks."
