Full-featured Security Information Management (SIM) Appliances Increase
Deployment Options for Both Large and Mid-sized Enterprises
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- GuardedNet, Inc.
( http://www.guarded.net ), a leading provider of advanced enterprise security
information management (SIM) solutions, today announced that their award-
winning security platform, neuSECURE, is available as an easy-to-deploy
appliance solution.
GuardedNet's nS appliance family brings all the benefits of an appliance
together with the feature richness of an enterprise-class SIM platform. The nS
series can consolidate, correlate and analyze the logs of more than
100 devices, including network security products, hosts and applications,
while providing full lifecycle incident management as well as proactive policy
monitoring and enforcement. No other SIM appliance to date can provide the
same breadth and depth of security management functionality as the nS
appliance.
"Typically security appliances are point products that serve a specific
function, but are not mission critical to the organization," said Tom
McNeight, president and CEO of GuardedNet. "We knew when creating the nS
appliance family that we would have to break that mold. Enterprise security
management platforms such as neuSECURE, perform critical 7x24 functions and
are depended upon by the enterprise. To address this, we created an easy-to-
deploy, appliance option that is also high performance, fully redundant, fully
featured and built with the needs of a mission-critical application in mind."
Additionally, GuardedNet's nS customer support package is enterprise-
class. GuardedNet offers 7x24 customer support for nS appliance hardware and
software as well as an onsite service option that guarantees replacement of an
appliance or a redundant drive within only four hours. "Our customers can rest
assured that we understand the demands of their environments," added McNeight.
The nS Series will feature GuardedNet's latest software platform,
neuSECURE 3.0, which provides:
- Heterogeneous device support for over 100 different security, network
and host devices and enterprise applications
- Four advanced correlation technologies including vulnerability and
susceptibility correlation
- Full lifecycle incident mitigation
- Proactive policy monitoring and enforcement
- Regulatory compliance reporting
- Centralized security data aggregation and storage
Who Will Benefit:
Until today, it has been the early security technology adopters who have
benefited from full-featured security information management, such as
financial services, telecommunications companies and government agencies.
There is a broad segment of mainstream enterprises that have been unable to
reap the benefits of centralized, real-time security management. These
companies have small, overworked security teams who are being increasingly
pressured by managers, customers, partners as well as the federal and state
governments to implement information security best practices. These companies
desire a full-featured SIM solution with event aggregation, real-time security
monitoring and alerting, incident management and regulatory compliance
reporting, but cost and complexity have made these solutions out of reach. No
longer must these companies feel alienated by SIM price tags or by the
complexity of implementation and maintenance, as the nS appliance family
removes these barriers.
The nS Appliance Family:
The nS appliances are built upon a multi-processor system with high speed
hard drives, offering high performance event processing, archiving and
reporting. Customers can choose from one of two "All-in-One" appliances:
- nS50 - an entry level all-in-one SIM appliance, running full-featured
neuSECURE 3.0. It is a 1U rack mount system and is sold with support
for up to 25 devices included. The nS50 offers the perfect way for an
enterprise to embrace centralized security management without a large
security team or a large security budget. The nS50 is a complete SIM
solution for under $50,000.
- nS100 - GuardedNet's high performance "All-in-One" appliance can
accommodate a significantly larger security infrastructure. It is a 2U
rack mount system and is sold with support for up to 200 devices.
These "All-in-One" appliances offer high availability, redundancy and
expansion with mirrored application and security data storage (RAID 10),
redundant power supplies and easy access removable drives. There is also an
optional external storage array available for users. It provides 2 terabytes
of online storage and employs RAID 10 support for full data mirroring.
Additionally, GuardedNet will offer the nS30, which is an appliance
version of its Event Aggregation Module (EAM). The nS30 will collect,
normalize, filter, encrypt and forward security events to neuSECURE's
correlation engine. The nS30 expands neuSECURE deployments for larger,
distributed enterprises and works in conjunction with both the nS100 and with
neuSECURE software-only deployments. The nS30 is for larger enterprises that
prefer the ease of an appliance when distributing aggregation points
throughout their infrastructure.
"At GuardedNet, we have become known for our ability to create
sophisticated and robust security management solutions while still striving
for low impact deployments. This is evidenced by our predominately agentless
collection techniques as well as by our focus on out-of-the-box event
correlation capabilities, said Tom McNeight, president and CEO of GuardedNet.
"Creating an easy to deploy and maintain appliance was a natural extension for
our security management platform."
Availability:
The nS appliance family will be available Q2 2005 along with final
pricing, performance, and configuration details.
About neuSECURE:
neuSECURE is a security information management (SIM) platform designed to
improve the effectiveness, efficiency and visibility of security operations
and information risk management. neuSECURE centralizes and stores security
data from throughout the enterprise, automating incident recognition and
response, streamlining incident handling, enabling policy monitoring and
enforcement and providing comprehensive reporting for regulatory compliance.
Aspects of information security are performed by various groups within an
enterprise. Each group uses diverse technologies and distinct business
processes, which results in miscommunications, duplication of efforts, and
ultimately, a vulnerable enterprise infrastructure. neuSECURE serves as the
centralized, integrated software platform that unifies the people, processes,
and technology required for successful security operations.
About GuardedNet(R):
