Hyatt originally joined the organization on his 16th birthday as a
crewmember in a BURGER KING(R) restaurant. After rising through the
restaurant ranks, he advanced to Field Training Manager, District Manager and
all of the various positions within operations and training, before becoming a
successful franchisee in Atlanta. Hyatt joined Burger King Corporation in
2002 to head up all of the Operations Excellence programs and services for
North America.
"Jim's 32-year career in the BURGER KING system makes him a key addition
to the senior executive team," Blum said. "His intimate knowledge of the
BURGER KING system and his passion for the franchise business will be
invaluable assets as he moves into this important new position."
Pam Long has been promoted to Vice President, Operations Excellence,
assuming many of Hyatt's previous responsibilities. Long joined the company
20 years ago as a Restaurant Assistant Manager and quickly advanced through
the ranks to Restaurant General Manager, District Manager, Classroom Trainer,
and Regional Training Manager, as well as heading various operations
improvement projects.
"Pam's extensive knowledge of BURGER KING operations and her proven
leadership make her the right person for this role," Blum said. "Combined
with Jim's promotion, this appointment positions us for success in the U.S."
Rick Silva, Senior Vice President, Eastern Zone and Joe Soraci, Senior
Vice President, Western Zone, both veterans of the BURGER KING field
operations, will continue their roles, and now report to Hyatt.
John Reckert, Vice President, Operations R&D, and his team will also now
report to Hyatt.
Hyatt's promotion is part of a comprehensive effort to align the BURGER
KING corporate leadership with the operating needs of the chain's franchisees
and their restaurants.
Additionally, Dave Gagnon, Senior Vice President, U.S. Company Operations,
and Francois de l'Etoile, General Manager, Burger King Canada, will now report
directly to Blum.
