NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- SM&A Corporation
(Nasdaq: WINS) announced its Center for Medical Information Technology (CMIT)
was awarded a $900,000 contract with the Department of Defense's Theater
Medical Information Program. SM&A will develop the Patient Encounter Module
(a computerized patient record), enabling the US military to document and
track the healthcare provided to service members at deployed locations around
the world. The Systems Solutions Group (SSG) based in Vienna, Virginia
operates the CMIT.
The Patient Encounter Module represents the Center for Medical Information
Technology's third contract award this year, bringing total awards to SM&A to
just under $1.2 million in 2000. Commenting on the success, CMIT Director
Jerry Luby said, "This is our second award from the Theater Medical
Information Program Office and we look forward to continuing our successful
relationship. We've grown from three to 15 full-time employees in the last
year. We anticipate our medical IT services business will present exciting
opportunities in the months ahead."
