No single medal is more memorable than the one brought back from the 1994
Games in Lillehammer by Dan Jansen. In his last event of the games, Jansen
set a world record and won the gold in the 1000-meter speed skating
competition. There wasn't a dry eye in the house as Jansen took his victory
lap with baby daughter Jane in his arms.
At Nagano in 1998, Nikki Stone snared the gold, one of the first Olympic
medals for U.S. skiers in the freestyle aerialist competitions, since its
addition to the Games in 1994.
Freestyle athletes perform various combinations of flips and twists off
snow-packed jumps as high as 13 feet, with takeoff angles as steep as 70
degrees. Stone wowed the judges and the crowd with her near perfect
execution of both of her jumps: a back full double full -- a triple twisting
double somersault, and a lay tuck full, or single twisting triple somersault.
AT&T WorldNet Service subscribers were invited to chat with the medallists
via an Internet Video e-mail message recorded by Stone. (Click link to see
video.)

Salt Lake City, will serve as their home-away-from home. The Center will
house an AT&T WorldNet cyber cafe and a long-distance calling center enabling
athletes and their families to share experiences with the rest of the world.
The program also provides travel assistance to families of U.S. Olympic
athletes competing in the 2002 Games. Each athlete will also be given a
100-minute Olympic PrePaid Phone Card.
