PALO ALTO, Calif. and CANNES, France, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Narus today
demonstrated mediation for pre-paid mobile Internet services at the 3GSM World
Congress in Cannes. The live demonstration, hosted throughout the show by
Amdocs (NYSE: DOX) (Booth #B24) shows the successful integration of Narus' OSS
mediation Solution with Amdocs Prepaid platform. The integrated system
provides full-prepaid support for next generation mobile operators.
Given the extent of prepaid usage, especially in Europe and Asia,
operators are looking for prepaid solutions that will allow them to offer
high-value data services, such as e-mail, commerce, online banking and music,
while minimizing fraud and policy abuse. Amdocs' end-to-end prepaid solution,
integrated with Narus OSS mediation, fully addresses communications providers'
current and future requirements for next generation data services. The
combined solution monitors subscriber sessions, using operator policies
managed by Amdocs Prepaid through its real-time rating and balance management.
The solution manages billing and policy enforcement in units of measure
appropriate to the specific service context -- for example, usage limits for
web browsing are managed in kilobytes and for VoIP service in minutes.
"With the integration of the Narus OSS mediation capability, we have been
able to implement a fully integrated mediation and billing solution for next
generation mobile prepaid," said Shlomo Baleli, Chief Technology Officer,
Amdocs. "The open architecture of Amdocs Prepaid allows us to leverage the
advanced real-time mediation capabilities offered by Narus, together with
Amdocs Prepaid real-time rating and balance management. The integrated
solution helps mobile operators respond profitably and securely to the
burgeoning demand for prepaid mobile Internet services."
The Narus OSS mediation solution for prepaid and mobile Internet offers
unique policy management features that improve the customer experience and
enhance customer loyalty. For example, the solution allows for a 'soft
landing,' managing policy enforcement in real-time. When the solution
identifies that an account balance is depleted, rather than an abrupt service
cut-off, subscribers can be seamlessly redirected to a customer service site
for re-charging prepaid balances.
"Integrating our interactive platform with Amdocs Prepaid creates an ideal
package for mobile Internet operators," said Sue Forbes, vice president
marketing and business development at Narus. "Together we can offer real-time
information for decision support, powerful billing options and the capacity to
create and enforce profit enhancing yet subscriber-friendly policies. We are
proud to work with such a respected world leader as Amdocs."
