ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In their quest for their first
Olympic gold medal in 50 years, the Team Canada men's hockey team has turned
to XOS Technologies, Inc. -- an Orlando, Florida-based sports technology
company -- for an edge to better help them prepare and coach their players.
"One of the biggest challenges the coaches face in being together for only
a week is preparing the players, learning the opponents tendencies and
adjusting the strategy -- not only from game-to-game, but from
period-to-period," said Randy Eccker, VP, of XOS Technologies. "These
products have been created to save coaches time while providing all the
pertinent video and data for in-depth player and team analysis. With very
little time, these are the perfect coaching tools for this situation."
The three products that XOS Technologies is supplying to Team Canada are
two DVD burners, two XOS Sport Station's, laptop computers with coaching video
and data analysis software, and the revolutionary XOSketch Sideline
Information System.
The XOSketch is a wireless, hand-held system -- roughly the size of a
coach's clipboard -- that provides real-time game stats and video. Game video
is recorded to a video server and can be accessed during the game through the
wireless XOSketch system. With the device, coaches have instant sideline
access to scouting databases and video, multiple camera angles, instant
replay, play databases, charts, and statistics. The NHL's Washington Capitals
have employed the ground-breaking new coaching tool for the past year.
"The XOSketch allows coaches to give players instant feedback on
tendencies, positioning and special teams plays right on the bench," said
Mr. Eccker. "Most of the players are unfamiliar with their teammates and
their opponents, so this will allow them to get a fresh look of what is
happening on the ice in between shifts."
While the XOSketch provides an edge to the team during the game, the XOS
Sports Station laptop systems and DVD burners will allow team Canada to
prepare their players and coaches in between games to produce "scouting tapes"
on DVD. As a result, coaches and players will be able to prepare in the
little time between games in the comfort of their rooms on their laptops.
