Motorola Launches Network Support Program In EMEA Region

Enhances Portfolio of Services That Boost Network Performance and Reduce
                              Operating Expenses

    CANNES, France, 3GSM World Congress, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Network operators seeking improved network performance that helps reduce
operating expenses while optimizing their customers' experience will find a
flexible, customized Network Support Program (NSP) through Motorola's
(NYSE: MOT) Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTSS).
"Operators today are striving to maintain network performance and
subscriber quality of service while controlling operating costs and limiting
additional capital investment," said Michael Krutz, general manager of
Motorola GTSS' Network Services organization for Europe, Middle East and
Africa (EMEA). "We've created a robust support program that can be tailored
to an operator's specific needs and will provide software and services that
can improve network performance and capacity. These improvements and
efficiencies result in enriched experiences for the end users that should
drive additional revenue for operators."
The Network Support Program is just one component of Motorola's
comprehensive Lifecycle Services, Software and Systems Integration efforts
available now in the EMEA region, and soon to be available worldwide. The
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) System Simulation and Modeling Service
(GSMS) and Motorola's Intelligent Optimization Service (IOS) are two
additional featured offerings contained within the Motorola's Lifecycle
Services portfolio.
"Motorola is recognized as a leader in Radio Frequency and for our Radio
Access Node. We believe our enhanced portfolio of services, software and
consultancy services provides complementary areas of expertise that bring
added value to our customers by helping them reduce operating expenses while
improving their service offerings," Krutz said.

    Network Support Program
NSP provides operators with a flexible portfolio of support services that
help manage network availability and contribute to reducing subscriber churn.
Operators can select from several levels of technical and hardware support as
well as extended services that include training and network reviews. Actual
NSP components and service levels will vary by region, but all include
Customer Service Desk functions with 24x7 coverage, hardware repair and
replacement modules and an e-support system. NSP allows operators to focus on
business issues and not worry about system availability.
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) System Simulation and Modeling Service
GPRS System Simulation and Modeling Service (GSMS) is a turnkey simulation
service that evaluates current network performance and recommends enhancements
and upgrades to maximize the operational efficiency of a GPRS network. The
simulator can model application performance for a given network configuration
from an end-to-end (radio access layer to core network) perspective based on
the realities of a specific network. It measures quality of service (QoS) and
dimensions typical data loads to analyze system performance using mixed
subscriber profiles that can range from simple e-mail and game play users to
high bandwidth packet video users. It then provides predictions for quality
of service for each new planned application.
"It is especially helpful during periods of rapid growth because it
provides valuable data that helps operators evaluate the business risk and
return on planned capital expenditures to expand their networks," said Krutz.
GSMS uniquely features Motorola-developed OPNET libraries that accurately
represent Motorola network RAN and core elements to provide the maximum
simulation accuracy. Libraries that model other vendors' core and RAN
equipment can be developed on request so operators can populate GSMS with as
close a representation as possible of the equipment within their own network
prior to the start of any simulation activities.

    GPRS Intelligent Optimization Service (IOS)
The Motorola GPRS Intelligent Optimization Service evaluates and enhances
actual RF system performance to offer improved network performance through
statistical analysis of data from actual subscriber calls. IOS and its
patented analysis algorithms are market leading in terms of the volume of data
that can be processed and the accuracy of the results. IOS also has the
ability to analyze interference between individual carriers rather than
between cells - a feature not available in other RF planning methods.
Data is collected automatically from the network, reducing dependency on
drive testing and its associated costs for dedicated resources. "The IOS uses
real-time data, not modeling or simulation, so it provides a more accurate
measure and evaluation of network performance," said Krutz. "It is another
tool Motorola uses to help operators improve network performance, reduce
operating expenditures and make better informed decisions as they expand their
network coverage and capabilities."
