ATLANTA, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Journalists covering entertainment news
now have a one-stop source of valuable industry information at the PRN Press
Room, http://www.prnmedia.com, PR Newswire announced today at Editor &
Publisher's Interactive Newspapers '99 Conference.
The Entertainment Beat provides the media with a real-time feed of
breaking entertainment news, a two-year archive of news releases, audio and
video events, a database of relevant photos and experts in numerous
entertainment fields.
"As more journalists turn to the Internet to access information, we will
provide the customization they need to pull what they want as quickly and
efficiently as possible," said Ken Dowell, PRN's vice president for media and
content development. "We asked journalists what type of information they use
regularly, and many responded with entertainment industry news. The new
Entertainment Beat web site makes the information from PRN members more
visible and accessible to the media."
More than 400 entertainment reporters are among the 9,500 journalists who
use the Press Room web site, which is password protected and available to
journalists at no cost. PRN created it in October 1997 to provide a fast,
easy alternative for the media to receive and search news releases and other
features of the PRN web site, including photos and daybooks.
Fully searchable, the Press Room offers a two-year archive of all news
releases and specific sections for journalists on the automotive, technology,
energy, sports and federal government beats. Additional features are hot news
topics, new media events, ProfNet Briefs and a journalist job bank.
A PRN Media User Survey late last year found that most journalists would
like to get news releases from web sites, online databases and the PRN Press
Room. Of the 209 respondents from newspapers, trade publications, broadcast
outlets and wire services, 26 percent identified entertainment as a preferred
topic. The response was even greater from broadcast journalists -- 41% of TV
journalists and 43% of radio journalists.
PR Newswire, http://www.prnewswire.com, remains the world leader in the
electronic distribution of full-text news releases to the media and financial
community since founding the industry 45 years ago. With 29 bureaus across
the United States, five overseas bureaus through division PRN International
and its vast network of wire, fax, e-mail and Internet delivery, PRN serves
the news release needs of public relations and investor relations
professionals worldwide.
