PITTSBURGH, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Do you need to renew or replace your
Pennsylvania driver's license? Would you like to experience face-to-face
driver and vehicle service designed with convenience as top-priority? If you
live in Allegheny County, this opportunity may be just around the corner.
As part of festivities for the 1999 Pittsburgh Auto Show, PennDOT's
customer bus will be providing on-the-spot driver and vehicle services at the
Lawrence Convention Center, 1101 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh. Staff will be
assisting customers over a two-day period, with service hours from 11 a.m.
until 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, and from noon until 6 p.m. throughout
Sunday, February 21.
Taking PennDOT services over the road has been part of Gov. Tom Ridge's
efforts to bring public services closer to the people. In 1997, Secretary of
Transportation Bradley L. Mallory unveiled this innovative way to serve
PennDOT customers.
The bus and its staff have been recognized nationally. In 1998, PennDOT
received the Star Search Team Award for excellence in customer service
delivery by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA),
Region I. The honor distinguished PennDOT from motor vehicle departments and
law enforcement agencies in 12 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces.
Customers who visit the bus will find quick, efficient service for most
over-the-counter driver and vehicle needs, including: driver license and
registration renewals; photo identification cards; change of address requests
for licenses or registrations; disability license plate and placard
availability; and special fund license plate purchases.
